how did the band come up with their name? i heard it was from a children's poem or from a neighbor named tim. can some one tell me specifics. simply curious. thanx

It was actually the name of another band from University College and they didn't want it, so Chris & co. took it. I think that's how it went... :?

"We all lived in the same building and we took the name 'Coldplay' from Tim, one of our other flatmates who also had a band. He decided he didn't like the name any more because it was too depressing," says Martin.

But yeah, technically the name came from both. The play and their friends band. And I don't think the name is depressing at all. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's one of the best band names out there.
