Johnny switching channels on deville?

Featured Replies

Hello, I got a question if anyone of you know if johnny is switching channes on his deville?

I don't seen an overdrive on his board anymore, and the rat is probably to heavy for a lot of sounds so I wonder where he gets his licht od sounds from, my guess is the drive chanel of the amp, can anyone confirm?

He dosent switch channels but chris does. For his light drive he uses his Micro Amp.

are you sure? from an interview in total guitar johnny says he is using all channels.

"Oh, the MXR pre-amp. That's for when I use quieter guitars like my old Tele

or the Jazzmaster or the Jaguar. They're a lot quieter and you just put this

on and it makes the sound a lot richer as well as boosting it. 'Cos they can

be quite twangy. It adds loads and then I just use the Fender Deville amp

and the different channels on there which are really good. Live, I'd just

had this pedalboard built and it's just like the control room of the

Tardis."

Als a lot of od sounds sound pretty on arobtth and x&y sound like deville on drive channel (drive at 4), not sure who is playing them though.

Listen f.e. to "warning sign"

a nice example of switching between od channel and rat is on "talk".

I will not repeat what I have said. Jonny doesn't switch channels live. He might in the studio but alot of things are different in the studio. On top of that he has no way of possibly switching live because he doesn't have a pair of the foot switches to the DeVilles. Chris does but jonny doesn't. Believe who you will it doesn't matter to me. And also the MXR is called the Micro Amp pre amps are very different. So I'm not sure how reliable your source was.

my source is a leading british guitar magazine interview with coldplay (chris and johnny) www.totalguitar.co.uk/

johnny has a controller on his pedalboard, so he could switch channels with that.
