The Hollywood star has done a Mossy and surprised everyone with a singing turn…

Gwyneth Paltrow surprised fans at Jay-Z’s Royal Albert Hall gig last night (September 26) by getting up on stage and unleashing her vocal talents.

The surprise turn came just days after supermodel Kate Moss caused Babyshambles fans' jaws to drop when she hopped up on stage with lover Pete Doherty during his band's Dublin gig.

Like Kate, Gwynnie provided backing vocals – this time on Jay-Z hit, ‘Song Cry’.

Her hubby Chris Martin also got the crowd excited – even though it had been announced beforehand that he’d play with his new hip hop mate.

The singer performed a new song from Jay-Z's forthcoming album as well as 'Heart Of The City (Ain’t No Love)' from the rapper’s 2001 disc, 'The Blueprint'.

If only Apple were old enough to realise how coooool her mum and dad are...

Gosh Gwen looks gorgeous in that pic!

If anyone has ever heard the songs Cuisin' that she sang with Huey Lewis a few years ago...can't remember exactly what movie it was, I want to say "Singles", but any help would be great...

Anyway, she sounded terrific in that. She has a lovely natural singing voice, and it's a shame she doesn't use it more often!

Who knows - one day there might be a "Chris & Gwynnie" album!!

Jay-Z joined by onstage by Chris and Gwynnie at London show

The Albert Hall gets big surprise

Jay-Z was joined onstage tonight (September 27) by special guests Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow on vocals as he played the second of his two London shows this week.

The surprise came at what was the first ever hip-hop gig at the prestigous Royal Albert Hall.

Performing in front of a sold-out crowd, as he did at Wembley Arena in the UK capital at the weekend (September 24), the rapper brought out the Coldplay singer for 'Dead Presidents II' and 'Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love)' from Jay-Z's classic LP, 'The Blueprint'.

Martin's Oscar-winning actress wife Paltrow supplied backing vocals on a few tracks including 'Song Cry', also from 'The Blueprint'.

Paltrow had previously sang in the 2000 movie 'Duets', and has appeared onstage with pal Sheryl Crow in the past. She has also had a couple of hits in Australia.

Gwyneth Paltrow duets with Jay-Z

The star of Shakespeare in Love and Proof sang the chorus of Song Cry from the rapper's classic Blueprint album.

"She was a bit nervous but her performance was really excellent," says 1Xtra DJ G Money, who was at the gig.

Other onstage guests included Paltrow's husband, Chris Martin, Beyonce and rap star Nas. It was the first hip-hop gig to take place in the Royal Albert Hall.

"It was an historic event," said G Money. "We were in the same seats that you've seen at the Proms. It was amazing."

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was backed by a 25-piece orchestra and a DJ for his set.

Surprise performance

Chris Martin duetted on an untitled song from the rapper's new album, and added vocals to another track from Blueprint, called Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love).

The Coldplay star's performance had been rumoured before the concert, but his wife's appearance was more of a surprise.

"People were like: 'Who is this chick that's in the spotlight?'" said G Money.

"Then Jay-Z said: 'I want people to wish a happy birthday to my good friend Gwyneth Paltrow'.

"Everyone was like: 'Are you for real?'"
