February 19, 200719 yr I wrestle with the question of whether or not there is a God. It seems like I can prove it both ways and disprove it both ways. Does the universe need a creator to exist? Or is this just an idea inside man-made theology? Man yearns for the eternal. He wants to live forever and be strong forever. He is the only animal as far as we know which builds churches and contemplates the infinite. This in itself may be an indication that immortality resides in a soul of some kind. If there is truth in religion, I accept the premises of the New Testament.
February 19, 200719 yr i do believe there is a god. but i dont think we need to have a thread about it in the lounge
February 19, 200719 yr i do believe there is a god. but i dont think we need to have a thread about it in the lounge Yes - I reckon it would be best if all "religion" threads were banned, as they only end up in rows which don't go anywhere...................................
February 19, 200719 yr I do yes. But there are some concepts in my religion i dont entirely agree with. You could say thats how i see the world :P
February 19, 200719 yr I believe in God. Sometimes its hard and seems like Hes not there but there are just so many things in my life that point to a God, a Creator.
February 19, 200719 yr I don't need to believe in a God or follow religious structures to be a good and honest person. Some people do - some people don't.......either way, nobody knows nor can possibly ever find out. So why should we waste time talking about it? Timewasting thread - of which there has been many similar. Lets get on with bigger and better things!
February 19, 200719 yr God is gonna send you ... someware ........ hey, you dont judge me smarty. i wasn't refering to the God, but to the thread he opened, which seemed uneccesary, as it would raise a lot of conflicts between members of the forum. as far as the question goes, i do believe in God. God has always been and always will be an essential issue in people's lives since most human beings need to believe in a superior force to carry on through the overwhelming reality.
February 19, 200719 yr There will be a lot of debate obviously, but hey its something to talk about. I like seeing people's arguments for/against a God.
February 19, 200719 yr ^There are better things to talk about. Religion can be a touchy subject.... Exactly......this will be my last post in the thread because I'm standing by my view that it's a completely exhausted "Ultimate Question" that frankly is as productive as watching paint dry. Go, live and be good! Learn and see new things without reservations! If there is a higher being endless talking about it changes nothing! If your "God" emerges along the way then, well, great.....until then......
February 19, 200719 yr I think its more important then beer and beavers haha. Maybe it is more important....but not as easy to talk about (or as fun!!!)
February 19, 200719 yr I don't know why everyone thinks this thread is useless. It's asking a very important question that many people would like to know. Many people don't believe in God because of evolution. I can see that, yet I don't see why God couldn't have made the world the way it is appearing to have already been billions of years old. The world would be so much different if it didn't appear that way. We wouldn't have fossil fuels, we wouldn't have much starlight, there wouldn't be mountains, etc etc. I believe in the literal interpretation of Genesis because it only makes sense that way to me. It also only makes sense to me that science is real. And history proves many facts in the bible, even certain things that would be impossible without God, especially Jesus' resurrection which is the most important fact in my belief as I think it should be for everyone.
February 19, 200719 yr I don't think the thread is useless :P Maybe we can have a private discussion or something haha.
