Your Own Music?

Featured Replies

I havn't seen a thread on this... maybe its because nobody wants a thread on this

But are you a (budding) musician? Have you got your own music to share with us?

We would love to hear it! Just post your song, or a sample of it for us all to hear! :D

Or if you havn't recorded anything, tell us what you want to do or what you are working on! :)

Well have you recorded anything Rick?

doesn't have to be good... as long as you share it with us :D

Mucking around with instruments sounds pretty cool actually

There is actually already an Own Music/Lyrics thread, but it's been buried for a long time, so another one's good!:)

There's also a Coldplay covers by us thread in multimedia that's dying a quick death, lol.

I guess I don't need to answer this do I?;) I'll upload something of mine people haven't heard yet later.

Nice one Tracie ;)

I'll try to keep this thread alive, but its really down to whether people are interested :)

Haha, well ok..

This is just something I did when bored one afternoon a couple of years ago.

I didn't even think about what I was doing - there was no real thought into it and I don't even know way it still exists on my computer to be honest - it just happened.

Anyway.....It's just short too. http://www.sendspace.com/file/a9fk8c

Feel free to do as you like with it.......Recycle Bin (or 'Trash' if you're a Mac daddy)

Hey man, i'm loving this! Parachutes remix :D

Did you mix up several different songs, or did you do your own parts in it?

Either way, sounds reaaly good! ;)

Heres one of my songs... actually, my only song :P

http://waxylandscape101.hi5.com/

Once you get there, click the play button on the player.

It is quite repetitive, and the sound quality is not brilliant, but thats the site that did that when i uplaoded it.

The only bit thats not mine is the drums... just don't sue me

:P

The rest was all my own parts.....only the guitar is from parachutes.

Cool, I'll check yours out now.

Nice one ;)

I actually have something else i did with God Put A Smile... I mixed it up with the Collateral soundtrack, forgot the songname, but thats something i did a few years back also

I'll upload it another time.

I think I forgot to mention that im a real rookie with the guitar :P

Oh right, how long have you been playing?

With recording and stuff, you can only get better the more you keep at it. You don't sound THAT much of a rookie on guitar when I think about it - sometimes I get sent stuff by bands and I have to turn my speakers volume up to 50 to make it out properly......and then I wish I hadn't because it sounds....well, shit.

I found something else from my Boredom Archives....haha...It's just really pointless but quite funny.

I cut a guitar sample from the beginning of NARC by Interpol, pitch shifted some of the seperate notes in the riff to make it sound alot more upbeat and then did some messing about with amplitude filter to create more of a staccato feel.

Then from there it all went a bit Indian....haha.....for about a minute or so.....when I got sick and stopped. I did'nt really do much here.....just blended in a couple of other samples this time and quit.

Once more this is really short and purely stupid but Interpol fans might find a giggle...

I hate myself sometimes...haha.

I started playing it in my free time about 5 months maybe a bit more.

Your thing sounds funny, but ill check it out tomorrow, bed calls.

Later.

I've recorded a couple of songs, but there's really only one i'm truly proud of (no vocals yet though since I have no self confidence with my voice haha) but i'm afraid to post it on the internet just incase someone steals my idea.:\

^ haha, I often wonder how many people steal parts of songs they hear on the internet.

Gareth... I just checked out your myspace...

I'm amazed man! i can tell your a perfectionist with creating your music, very nice production ;)

From Dark is my favourite, i'm loving all the different rythms going on in that.

And Jitter is a work of genius. Awesome :)

Keep at it! How long have you been creating music like this?

Hey, thank you very much for you kind words. I'm glad you like them.

I've only been making some electronic music for the past 4 years....but before that I mostly wrote guitar based stuff.

I do tend to create such a wide variety of different pieces in various styles - it's because I like a vast range of genres. Classical, Alternative Rock, Electronic.....you name it.

I'm wanting to put some idea's together and play them live with a full band. I'm also looking to create a portfoilio of works as I'd like to write/score for computer games or short films etc....

You're welcome, your work definately deserves praise ;)

Your portfolio idea sounds quite interesting... i wish you good luck with that if it happens ;)

Funny you mentioned that you started off writing guitar based stuff, because with me it was the other way around... I mean I used to make electronica based music to start with (not necessarily good music but thats besides the point:P) but over the past few years i got bored of programs like Techno Ejay and the like, suppose they were quite restricting. Its only in the last few months that I've picked up a guitar, I realise it gives me much mre freedom playing a "real" instrument.

Enough of my blabbing for now anyway.

What about babbling about my demo? :idea2:
