Who's in the line-up? (Is it the real Genesis?)

just the trio, but apparently gabriel might be playing with them in Rome (which would be awesome).

But hey, the trio is better than nothin!

I prefer just the trio to any of the non-Collins/Gabriel singers. That's great. And Gabriel in Rome...WOW! I hope they do some of their older material.:)

yeah me too! I read a while back when they first announced the reunion that they were practicing Squonk so that could be an indication of what's to come.

Cool. Trick Of The Tail is, IMO, the best album they did with Phil Collins. I can't pick a favorite album with Gabriel...probably Selling England By The Pound if I absolutely had to choose. I hope they play Toronto. I guess I'd better get over my lazy streak and check the link you posted.:embarassed: :)

haha that would probably help. Yeah i totally agre about trick of the tail, though Wind and Wuthering and Duke come close for me. SEBTP is my fav gabriel era album.

I wish Steve Hackett was in the fold. :( But I'm definitely going to try to catch a show. ;)

I checked the website, and they said due to heavy traffic I should check back...I guess alot of people are phyched! I didin't find a toronto date when I googled it, but I'm hoping to be in ENgland in July, so maybe I can see them at Old Trafford!!

Hackett would be nice to see with them again. So would Anthony Phillipps.:)

I don't think Anthony Phillips would rejoin the band. He still suffers from stage fright, I think, which is what led him to quit the band (in the first place.)

Supper's Ready is a good song. But the whole "Foxtrot" album is fantastic.

Yeah. I know. I'm just daydreaming. The best we can hope for is that they keep clear of the Invisible Touch era and everything that came after it...but I wouldn't hold your breath. It's possible, because most of the fans that came to them through those later albums aren't with them anymore. But not likely.

I honestly thought I was the only early Genesis fan on here. This is great!!:D

haha no ur definitly not the only one ;) . Foxtrot is brilliant, but I think the best genesis album ever has to be A Trick of the Tail... it's flawless.

I hate to say it but I don't really mind some of the stuff from Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance; a few songs stand out like Land of Confusion, Domino, the Brazillian, Tonight Tonight Tonight. Fading Lights on WCD is such a beautiful song and a great song to end an album. Living Forever is pretty good too.

"Invisible Touch" is a pretty solid pop record; it's actually not as bad as some Genesis fans make it out to be.

"We Can't Dance", on the other hand, is incredibly uneven. Their last album with Ray Wilson is much stronger IMO.

yeah thats true, and you're right calling all stations was stronger but IMO that doesn't necessarily make it better.

Peter Gabriel

I just had to start this thread. I've been listening a lot to Peter's music lately, and it's amazing how brilliant this man is. He's quite possibly my favorite solo artist of all time. He's never really put out a bad song.

most of his solo stuff is pretty solid, especially the "So" album. But his most brilliant work was in Genesis. The "Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" album is all Gabriel, and it's a masterpiece!

Yea, he is fantastic! But I'm especially fond of Solsbury hill.. Way back when, I remember dancing to Genesis at our HS Grad. prom...

Digging In The Dirt off So has always been a favorite song of mine. I love Peter Gabriel. The new Gavin Rosdale (former lead singer of Bush) album sounds ALOT like a Peter Gabriel album btw.

I LOVE PETER GABRIEL!! I have everything hes ever done CD wise and DVD wise!! Hes a total genius!! I dont have much Genesis stuff though, cos when he was with them, that type of music wasnt really my thing. prolific as it was!!!

Its amazing that at his age now he can still bring arenas to their knees with his concerts!!!! Only he can perform walking upside down and riding on bikes and segway scooters!!!!:lol::lol:

A TRUE Master!!!!

Red Rain is such a powerful song.

Mercy Street still puts a lump in my throat. Ah, memories.
