Eurovision Song Contest

Featured Replies

Wow, what a coincidence, isn't it?! The voting was so predictable! The one who still says that it's not a political voting definitely lost touch with reality!

The winner song was as shitty as the majority of bands/artists who performed yesterday. The melody was monotonic, the recognition simply zero. My favourites were songs of Germany, Finland and Hungary. The Irish song definitely didn't deserve to be the last.

I'm excited about next year's host now… in a country where a guy called Tomislav Nikolics recently became the incumbent parliament president. Definitely the wrong man for a peaceful democratisation in his country...

However congratulations Serbia!

...those countries that actually represent europe didn't even make it to the top 10 (well, except for greece).

we all landed on the right handside of the list. hahaha.

...

the "real" european countries...

Also, wie heißen jene Länder, die wirklich Europa darstellen? Frankreich? Griechenland? Spanien?

Ja, natürlich es gibt Deutschland..

wir lieben Deutschland

well, western europe is too cool for this contest, i guess :sneaky:

definitely.....I said to my parents "It's gay Eurovision time!" hehehe why not?
ah, they're just repeating after Slovenia.... who remembers Sisters and their song? :laugh3:

I love the winning song, and the Ukrainian song as well. It was soo funny :D And Swedish and French song were also nice.

Btw, I loved the clips between performances. Especially that one about cheerleaders; too bad I noticed that too late. :(

Hmm... has any of the television shown also performances during the voting time? I wanted to see them playing, but all I saw/heard was Lauri's last words - "Life Burns!"

I liked German song, but it wasn't the Eurovision style. I'd listen to something like that otherwise. Btw, how could Turkish song get this far? It was crap! And UK - WTF?!? I dunno, but Ireland deserved 1000 points more than UK. They could make something so much better!

The Irish song definitely didn't deserve to be the last.

I disagree....it actually was bad.

the singer had a weak voice and it sounded like crap......it didn't deserve to be on top or something...so I can understand why they were last....

well, we had a classic eurovision song (a bad one of course), a cute singer and some beautiful girls dancing.. i heard that Kenan Doğulu (the singer) has became a bit popular in finland, so we got some points from northern countries as well..

and of course, the biggest advantage is that we have eurovision friends such as germany, belgium, the netherlands, switzerland, bosnia, etc  (i dont remember taking less than 10 points from germany :P)

so, i am quite sure the next year we'll have at least 50 points from those countries only, whatever the song will be

there are no countries that are real or fake Europe...Germany is as much Europe as Romania for example....actually I don't really get Grace's statement...

they are televising eurovision on TV now. God help some of those people. some of the music is so so bad. in fact nearly all of it is. :laugh3:

hehe yeah....it's almost sure that Turkey gets at least 10 points from Germany...because so many turkish people are living here...too bed german people don't live in other european countries...:P

Yes here too, weve got many turkish people, and all the others didnt vote cause we werent in it, thats why we gave 12 points.

I wanted hungary to win, they were good :)

i love how turkish people are eager to vote! whenever there's any kind of voting, we're in it and we (not me actually) vote for the turkish candidates, this can be any voting,eg. nba allstar (we even race with china!), the place for the olympics,a stadium for a football match, anything,anything... even when there's a political voting in some website (no matter it is a local or global site), we immediately forward mails warning about the issue!

this is who we are

(you said that about the irish entry)

I strongly disagree! :D

I just LOVE irish folk - although I can see why it doesn't really "fit" in that competition (and that's sad).

I think the irish really did the best job in representing their country - their song was traditional and honest.

try speedfolk next year, ireland! probably fits a bit better, but it's still honest. hehe...

yeah, I loved the Irish song, too.... it was real and honest music - and was way beyond that other crap we saw yesterday...

My opinion of the eurovision song contest is simple, it's just a simple rule:

Countries with high emigration rates = winner countries; countries with high immigration rates = loser countries.

There may be some exceptions, but those are statistically insignificant.

Guys, stop complaining about it! Germany`s music pop culture is crap. The Eurovision is a folklore contest and such type of songs are more tolerated than pseudo-pop performances. On the other hand the folklore of Germany are Tyroll-songs which are so funny that they may be successful only in a comedy show.

hahaha. I only criticized the irish song because the singer was really bad...and that made it sound like crap...I did not say the song was bad because it was irish folklore...and come on...I think if we take real german folklore music and the folklore music of some other countries there is not much of a difference...so stop talking about a comedy show,....

and about pseudo-pop performances....I'd say the Irish would have been the only song then which was real folklore....you can't tell me that the Bulgarian song for example was the real folklore of Bulgaria....I guess it must include bits of the pseudo-pop as well....

I know the german song was not really german..

I'm done

I'm done

wir sind fertisch. :nice:

@Gitta Rensolo

I wasn`t talking about your statement at all... I`m even sorry that I wrote in this thread. All the ppl who were writing here are some Germans who don`t like the fact that Germany is not the music leader of Europe. Of course it is hard to accept that the eastern folklore is much more interesting and much older and hard to perform ( there are very few ppl who can sing the bulgarian song the way this girl did) than the western. It is a whole new dimension of music (the eastern folklore) it is a music that can make you laugh and cry at the same time.

you can't tell me that the Bulgarian song for example was the real folklore of Bulgaria

It is! The songs need to be "new" so that they can apply for this contest. If there were no pop-rythms in bulgarian song noone could`ve been able to understand it accept the bulgarians. I read that there is nowhere in Serbia that the next Eurovision can take place. I suggest that you go and visit Belgrade before making such a statement. The germans need to figure out new concepts of other nations and other countries and cultures cause the ones they have are irrelevant and subjective.
