May 14, 200719 yr Trabant, the sauciest band of Icelandic pop art enfant terribles signed to Fatboy Slim's Southern Fried imprint, are all set for An Emotional Month this June when they embark upon their biggest series of British dates yet (An Emotional Month With Trabant' UK tour). Trabant also unleash a cool blast of glamorous, leather-clad electropop decadence upon us Brits that same month (and how we need them at a time when identikit denim clad indie bands seem almost de rigeur) with the release of their throbbing, DAF-esque electropop glacier of a new single, The One', on 4th June (12" single and download formats). Single formats are set to include a formidable set of club remixes by the likes of Filthy Dukes (who provide the bump'n'grind glam-tastic radio version), Williams, Para One and Black Ghosts which look set to smash dancefloors across Europe and beyond. It is rare these days to meet a band so driven and burning with ambition and sheer confidence that they brazenly admit that their goal is to "upstage Queen" and even go so far as to say that "it's time we kicked Coldplay's ass around", but then acts like Trabant are as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth. The Reykjavik five-piece are already feted as superstars in their native Iceland where their songs are covered on the Icelandic equivalent of X-Factor, and their forthcoming album (Emotional' - slated for a UK release in mid-June) was the only record in Europe that held Coldplay's juggernaut X&Y' album off the top-spot (so they are halfway to achieving their stated aims). Trabant revel in the cut and thrust of the live arena - their shows involve various degrees of nudity, copious amounts of champagne and buckets of glitter (hence their near adoption by that totem of glamorous decadent chic (and Glastonbury legends) Lost Vagueness) - and a number of surprises are planned for their An Emotional Month With Trabant' UK tour which runs throughout June 2007. In addition, the band plan some very special UK shows around the release of the new single - fans would be advised to become friends' via Trabant's myspace website (http://www.myspace.com/trabantofficial) for all of the latest news on these special shows etc. The One' will feature in an upcoming episode of hit US drama CSI', whilst the fellas have also recently soundtracked a new TV advert for Honda motorbikes. The single will be followed by the release of the band's new album Emotional' on 18th June. The album was delayed from a projected 2006 release after band frontman Raggi decided to take a year away from music when he found himself propelled to the upper echelons of the contemporary art world via a series of increasingly bizarre and confrontational works of performance art (an Icelandic Damien Hirst if you like?) that meant he was unable to devote 100% of his time to Trabant. Unwilling to compromise and not wishing to attempt to juggle two careers, he chose to take a twelve month art sabbatical on the understanding that this would leave him completely fresh and ready for the next stage of his and his band's plan for complete worldwide pop domination.
