most of the titles come from the words in the song (for example, yellow, in my place etc)

 

however a few titles are mentioned no where in the song

what do they mean?

For example, what do the titles amsterdam, x &y and 1.36 mean?

They probably mean something sentimental.

I've read that X&Y may refer to male and female, or other opposite. It's also referring to variables in math equasions.

 

I've never understood why the song Tusk by Fleetwood Mack has that name.

i heard that 1.36 was named that because it was origianlly how long the song was lol.But then i guess they made it a little longer

i believe x & y the album was named because of the highs and lows of everyday or something like that.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac.. hmm. all I could guess on that one might be some part of male anatomy, Tracie!:) X & Y could be in reference to the male 23rd chromosome (Y), and the Female 23rd chromosome (X). Or, two variables. Or, a graph's co-ordinates. Or maybe all that, and because of its universality, -that would make it appealing to a wide audience..

1.36 was the length of the original version of the song.

 

X&Y are about the ups and downs in life.

for a while i wondered the same thing about "dont panic", but then i read that chris named it that for the hitchhiker's quide to the galaxy, which, according to the book, says "DON'T PANIC" on the cover of the book in large friendly letters. (interestingly enough, Radiohead also got the title for "paranoid android" from this book and possible the name for their album, considering they say "OK computer" lots of times)

 

and i always thought they should have named "the world turned upside down" "X&Y" because it actually says that in it and it never says "the world turned upside down"

 

and then there's "parachutes," which i dont think has an explained reason behind it.

I dunno but i think Parachutes (the song) has some connection to its name, 'I wait in line' might be referring to being one of the people waiting to jump out of a plane, skydiving i mean. Ofcourse that image may also have an underlying meaning aswell.
