Martin, Bono, and Alanis ¿Love for the World?

There’s no doubt that on so many times internationals musicians and singers have used their fame to raise their voice and create conscience in whose want to hear them by campaigns and actions.

The say they want a better World, and they give a small grain of sand for being part of some campaing or some organization, and that’s the case of Coldplay, U2, Alanis Morissette, Maná, Ricky Martin and Bruce Springsteen, whose have boast o this in more than one time their concern about different social problems.

But the question is..¿Where were they the last 07-07-07? When more than 150 partners join in a masive musical cause that was heard all around the world against the global warming. The: “LIVE EARTH”

And for some of us is very surprising that the leaders of two very importants bands, like Bono (U2), and Chris Martin (Coldplay) haven’t come to Al Gore’s called, after that in the last years, they have shown in different medias, looking concern in helping the society.

In the case of the preformers of “In My Place”: Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion, they also promote the OXFAM’s “Make Trade Fair” campaing, organization wich slogan is “Together for a world more equitable”

We must remember that occasion while their visit to Mexico in 2003, the band visited some peasants in Puebla, and in their concert they anounced the we b page, and all the stuff..

Alter the shows only Chris and Jonny stayed in the country, and they went to Cancún where they joined to the call of “For a fair trade” in the reunion of the Trade World Organization

Maybe the absence of this band was because they are very busy in the creation of their next album....

And what about Bono? One of the fighters for ecological causes and who also wasn’t there.

It seems that the band is having a break, because the newest thing that they have done this year was being in Instant Karma’s new album, Listen in. This album would help the crisis in Darfur

Seriously, the fact that Bono didn’t show up in the Live Eart, it turned very badly fos the irish singer because just a few weeks ago, he put on the market a new line of green t-shirts, that supports several fundations, whose function is the plantation of trees, the ecoambientalistas reforestation of forests and investigations.

This brings to the mind a chapter of the Simpsons in which Bond begins to speak about ecology and their partners, got tired of listen him, and they prefer to go away for beers... it would happen the same when thinking if they would go or not to the Live Earth?

Alanis Morissette, that occasionally has raised her voice against the environment destruction and has gained prizes to promote the tolerance through the art; also she had lack in this massive one but unlike Coldplay or U2, she cancelled like Maná.

First it was speculated on that the Canadian would not act in the beach of Copacabana, Brazil by problems of her agenda; but later it was rumored that the refusal of the singer to participate was because she considers a contradiction the fact that it is the country that more contaminates in the world the one that organizes east concert in favor of the enviroment

Maná, the only Mexican and Hispanic group that was programmed in this great event conducted simultaneously in eight countries; it cancelled his intervention.

Its justification was: for reasons of logistic (if they thought theirselves as "stars" perhaps wanted to close or to open and they did not like their place). Nevertheless, spokesmen of the band said that that does not clear its commitment with this movement and being for the ecology

Another artist who also is very concern with the society is Ricky Martin (ambassador of the UNICEF), who did not comprise of the concert either to be of tour by Europe and to have a concert in Granda on 7th .... Brush Springsteen, that has been pronounced by peace and against the war and has raised its ego when helping in altruistic events, besides to pronounce itself in elections against Bush... also was others of those artists "activists" who did not participate with their music in the Live Earth.

Why they would not attend these artists the Live Earth? ... the truth?

They just know it..

sounds to me like someone with too much time on their hands to contemplate what others can do with their time. Instead of wasting so much energy to bitch, the writer could have save his energy + a small bit of energy by turining off his/her computer, and simply enjoying the bands that did perform, versus not crying to the world about the bands that didn't perform.

Exactly.

The bands that didn't preform probably thought it was a load of bull. Because it pretty much was.

People....I'm sooo agree with you...

thanks for comment...! :)

yup, coz being a pop star you have time to support every single issue in this world  the media really are dumb sometimes

i hears ya peeps. besides, will champion was there - as an audience member not as a performer, but still that's something yeah? and i heard they eat organic, which means that they support not using pesticides, which are harmful to the planet, but i guess thats random and not exactly proveable info, but i really like to think that Coldplay practices what they "preach"
