JOKER Stephen Porter accidentally burnt down a pal’s home after setting light to his own wind. He caused £34,000 of damage to milkman Michael Platt’s house when the Christmas tree went up in flames.

Porter, 19, set a fart ablaze with a lighter — then lit the spray from a pressurised deodorant can.

His drunken antics wrecked the property in Ribbleton, Lancs.

Porter pleaded guilty to reckless arson.

John Close, defending, branded the stunt “ridiculous” and said it was totally out of character.

Porter was given a 51-week jail term, suspended for 18 months at Preston Crown Court.

A fire brigade source said after the hearing: “At the time it was unclear if Porter caused the fire with the fart trick or the deodorant.

“Either way, it’s lucky no one died.”
