I hate age limits.

rudy_o : remember...if you win any, at least you can still sell them off for big pocket money. :P

& + 1 against age limits for gigs!

as if Malaysia doesn't get short changed enough on int'l acts as it is already cos of other restrictions... :inquisitive:

Mmmmmmmmmm I want to make money from selling tickets too :wideeyed:

OMG! i shall never try to even look for any music CDs in Speedy! they just demonstrated why music shops in Malaysia are non-existent!

my sis asked for where their Kasabian CDs are cos i was looking in the "International Pop & Rock" section & noticed they managed to skip an alphabet (K) in their racks. sales girl gets delegated by manager (i think) to assist us. she asks how that's spelt & takes us directly to..............the EASY LISTENING section!!! KASABIAN!!! :stunned:

sis was about to burst out laughing & i almost choked on the juice i was drinking...

after a couple of minutes, she looked at us & told us that they don't have Kasabian in stock. gee, i wonder why?

with product knowledge like this, who needs piracy & online file sharing to cause shops like these to go under? *sigh*

my sis still hasn't gotten over this & keeps sniggering every once in a while when she remembers the incident randomly :p

Err... I would never think of going there for music CDs. Ever. You should've gone to either Rock Corner or Victoria Music Station if you're near either one. Victoria's a little cheaper.... I've only got the Klang Valley as a point of reference.

But the very best place (IMO) is the Orchard HMV in Singapore - I usually buy a CD when I'm down there. Just saying.

I can't blame your sister for sniggering.

agree that the Orchard HMV in Singapore's pretty well stocked. tho occasionally they don't have what i'm looking for too. generally, i tend to buy from Gramophone in the City Hall area more, followed by the CityLink HMV. if those 2 don't have, then i'll make the trip to Heeren.

haven't bought a music CD in Malaysia for ages since i've been living overseas mostly. now that i'm back longer than a long wk/end, i noticed that i'm kinda limited to Rock Corner or Victoria Music Station. :( tho i've only been to the one in MidValley (i think that's Victoria?) when it used to be called Salem Power Station (or something like that). i did like Tower Records in KL Plaza when it was still around.

Speedy, i shall now catalogue under "do not bother, including for DVDs/VCDs".

we were trying luck at Speedy anyway since we happened to see it after lunch & my sis was very confident that they'd have Kasabian's albums cos of the MTV World Stage hype. :dozey:

*sigh* now i feel like a lost foreigner on my own home soil... :embarassed:

The one upstairs in Midvalley is Rock Corner. They're not so Ah-Beng. If you want better informed staff, then the Rock Corner in Bangsar Village is not bad (I reckon - he at least know who Radiohead is :laugh3:), talk to the tall Chinese guy (he used to work at Music Magic in Central Market before it got shut down).

Tower Records declared bankruptcy ages ago - took long enough for the stores here to close shop. Even when it was around I never really bought anything - well okay, perhaps the Live 2003 DVD when it first came out. But nothing much since.

Victoria - cheap, but you need to know what you're looking for and speak clearly :P

Ah Gramophone  Used to work there, but to tell the truth we still go to HMV and buy things sometimes just because they have a larger range of indie stuff.

*lol* ok ok...if they know who Radiohead are then should be decent already. just as long as the salesperson doesn't bring me to the Easy Listening section for their CDs.

btw, thought i saw 1 Tower Record in Lot 10 still with the same yellow/red sign. or is that an independent Tower Record recycling the name/brand?
