Rodey
What's the difference between the two and which should I get? I'd be playing mostly stuff like Lenny Kravitz, Oasis and Coldplay. Maybe some U2 as well.
PianoRocker
No tele and no stato.. both are a bit iritating, and you see them everywhere.. to much i think :P Try a Jaguar those are alot better than tele and strato. Better in sound, and look better.. ;)
Rodey
Jaguars are a bit out of my price range unfortunately. I am looking at getting just a Standard Strat or a Standard Tele but am really stuck on which one to get.

Tnspieler1012
You really have to try'em out for yourself. I prefer tele's myself, just like the tone and aesthetic more than the others.
Rodey
What do you think would be better for the music I listed? I know Jonny plays Tele's and The Edge plays both. But what about Oasis and Kravitz? Would a Tele still fit good into their type of music?
improvisation
No they wouldent. Basicly Tele's are really bright and have alot of top end and country twang. They are also tremolo armless, so no right hand vibrato or divebombs. Strats have a wide rage of sounds. Can do the blues well and can get bright. I would recommend the Fender Classic Series 50's Strat for someone on a budget.
Square 4
I like the Stratcoaster-design very well, but the best sound... I don`t know.
winnie
I wanted a Tele first, but the dude at the Musicstore recommended me a Strat, because it's more versatile than a tele... I was a bit sceptical at first but now I love my Strat :) I think a Strat is a better first e-guitar than the Tele, but it's your choice in the end... athalon012
i much prefer the telecaster and i've tried both, but it's really up to you. if it's your first guitar, just find something really cheap. if you already know how to play the guitar, go try a telecaster and a stratocaster and see which one you like the most. alyssa
Well I've found a standard fender tele for $200 so I snagged it, but I haven't been able to judge it that well because my amp is horrible!
