I am "Wait-and-See" with LP4

Featured Replies

I cannot begin to express how pumped I was for X&Y. For six months prior, I was on this board believing all the pre-release hype. I LOVED the version of Talk that was leaked (still do), and then when the album came out, while decent, it was no where near my lofty expectations. Looking back, I should have known it would be impossible to duplicate the incredible songwriting and production of AROBTTH.

That's why, while very much looking forward to LP4, I am tempering my expectations. I am following the progression of the album, but I won't let the excitement of the release get to my head this time. Personally, I am looking forward much more to the release of Oasis' LP7.

Anyone else feel this way?

I know what you mean. I'm don't think I'm as excited as I was for X&Y. I thought it was going to be a real departure for them and a truly great album but three years on I don't think it was. I see X&Y as a way of CP cementing their position as a big band and it did that but it didn't exactly reinvent the wheel.

With this record I am looking forward to it but I just hope they've kept the tunes and haven't ignored them 'cause they were focusing on experimenting. It seems like there's going to be many different styles of music on the new record but I just hope it sounds good as an album.

On the other hand I think their live return will be something to remember. Probably not up there with Zoo TV but better than Twisted Logic.
