June 25, 200817 yr If your intention is just to piss me off with your content less posts its not working....kids will be kids. But they need to educated in the right way so they don't end up as money and sex-obsessed wannabes.;)
June 25, 200817 yr Author Yes that one rap group is good..every other rap artist in the world sucks. From now on you shall be the sole determiner of good music. Why do you care if you're labeled a fag or a gay for liking coldplay? You're doing the same by questioning their intelligence. Hold yourself to a higher standard. Accept that what is music to you may be trash to someone else, and what is trash to you is music to someone else. The world would be a boring place if everyone listened to coldplay and radiohead and there was no variety out there. its not that i really care, its just that saying things like that is really low. and yes, the world would be a boring place if everyone listened to coldplay and radiohead, lol. i listen to a wide variety of music from hip-hop to alternative to electronic (basically everything but country and ringtone rap). as for the sole determiner of good music, i dont think so, everyone has their own taste in music...which im fine with as long as they dont do the stupid soulja boy dance thing on the street or sing it out loud every three seconds. i dont think anyone can determine what 'good music' is, but as for all the ringtone rap and preteen girls talking about their pot smoking ex boyfriends, well, thats just not music. but even then, im flattered that you called me the sole determiner of good music :)
June 25, 200817 yr , but as for all the ringtone rap and preteen girls talking about their pot smoking ex boyfriends, well, thats just not music. Definitely not. It's just meaningless garbage.
June 25, 200817 yr Author If you're looking for good rap look towards talib kweli, mos def, immortal technique and similar artists...there are good rappers out there but you won't find them on a top 10 chart. i love talib kweli and immortal technique
June 25, 200817 yr Author Definitely not. It's just meaningless garbage. yeah, its just noise, which is why i dont listen to the radio anymore, because its driven me to the point to where id rather listen to the commercials than the "music", and thats sad.
June 25, 200817 yr yeah, its just noise, which is why i dont listen to the radio anymore, because its driven me to the point to where id rather listen to the commercials than the "music", and thats sad. And likewise why I only listen to specialist evening radio shows and never watch "music" TV like Empty-V.;)
June 25, 200817 yr They don't "try" to make good music? You know something about rappers that I don't? You've seen their recording sessions? ... Let the world have its katy perrys (or whatever her name is)..as long as they don't bug me, I won't go around creating threads about how much their music sucks. Well, I've heard rap quite a few times and, to put it bluntly, if those so-called artists were trying at all there's just no way it could have come out so completely awful. Most of them seem to be trying, but what they're trying to do is maximize the pain induced by listening to their "music." I'm sure there are some good rap groups/artists, but there are so many bad ones--by "bad" I mean that after hearing it I would give almost anything to forget the painful noise and disturbing lyrics--that I don't see much point in trying to find them. If you can tolerate the bad ones, go ahead and look. But I gave up looking pretty quickly. You don't like scantily-clad women? There's a lot of warm blooded males out there (including myself) that don't mind eye candy in music videos. Do I want them to trickle over into coldplay videos? Nope. Does it enhance music? No. Would I wanna trash a hotel room with them? Hell yeah!! Ok, now I wish I had just ignored you.
June 25, 200817 yr Author And likewise why I only listen to specialist evening radio shows and never watch "music" TV like Empty-V.;) haha, yeah, i listen to the talk show station now, i actually kinda like it, they talk about some interesting stuff, and yes MTV has gotten to be garbage, too bad, i used to like it :(

June 25, 200817 yr Sounds like you don't like rap either. :P Well 99% of it, no, although some of the more soulful rap is OK (e.g. Plantlife).;)
June 25, 200817 yr Author Sounds like you don't like rap either. :P haha, probably no one likes rap here but a few select people. personally, i like certain rap artists that i got lucky finding, the ones who rap about something other than sex, pot, money, and fame, but as for the rest of them, i just hope their fame and wealth is taken away slowly and painfully. great musicians were the ones that did extraordinary things with their voices and instrumental ability, something that no one else could do, but nowadays, its just the quest to see how many curse words you can fit in a single stanza or line, things that anyone could do, just scream into a microphone or say the same words over and over again in the same melody about 30 times. anyone can do that, but no one could play the guitar the way eddie van halen could, which is why he is a legend. nobody could strum a melody together quite like the way the beatles did, which is why they are also legends. music is pure talent, concentration, and practice, it took soulja boy a crappy video camera, youtube, and a "gangster" voice to make millions of dollars, and yet there are talented bands like coldplay that are just being discovered here in the States, does anyone know the names of the people who helped invent the computer? no, all they know is "soulja boy" and his stupid dance and song, which i think is real crime. well, i guess in the end, thats the way the cookie crumbles.

June 26, 200817 yr How could I forget The Shins and The Killers, The Roots, Alanis Morissette, Amy Mann, The Drive by Truckers, Wilco, Linkin Park, The Foo Fighters, man theres alot of talent here in the states. Hell I even like some of The Strokes, Pink, and yeah I like some of Madonna... Erykah Badu, anyone? At least I think she considers herself an Amerikan. All American and I havent even bothered listing the many talented country, YES country, blue grass and classical artists worth hearing and spending my time listening to... Music is definately in the ear of the beholder ARE YOU LISTENING?
June 26, 200817 yr The same can be said for any genre of music. ya thats true .just some genres have better musicians

Music is definately in the ear of the beholder ARE YOU LISTENING? yes, but the killers havent produced an album in god knows how long, the shins havent make a single since '07, the roots are good, ill admit that, i used to LOVE linkin park, but minutes to midnight was a huge mistake, the foo fighters are good too, no pink, sorry :( madonna was quite a while ago, though she did make 4 minutes with justin timberlake and timbaland not long ago, and i only know of one talented country/bluegrass band today, and thats nickel creek. i see your point, but the music market is becoming flooded with all this untalented garbage and its taking a toll on all of the good emerging or small bands. p.s. i think erykah badu considers herself american, isnt she from dallas? i dont know, lol, but yes, i have to agree that music is in the ear of the beholder, its just that sometimes all of this garbage really gets to me :P :argue: <-------haha, like that one
