once he called himself a rock star too and then he called his band a indie rock band or soft rock band too.

 

There are many instances of that too.

Pop comes from the word popular, which is what Coldplay are. :D

 

I don't think it matters though, is only a word. They can call him Thrash metal star for all I care :D

in 2005 in several interviews i read in NME, and like this year in Q he called himself "i am a rock star" at a moment and rollingstones themselves named him as a "confessions of an anxious rock god!"
