Flash Player and Windows Vista - the solution

Featured Replies

If your software is Windows Vista, doesn't matter which version, you cannot install Adobe Flash Player's latest version. Or better, you can install it, but you'll cannot use it. If you follow these steps, it will work:

For Vista (32 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

For Vista (64 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.

A sneaky trick for you

In the "additional options" area below the posting area, there is a column of tick-boxes grouped under Miscellaneous options, one of those options is "Disable smilies in text", tick that post and smilies won't work ;)
