ricardo
I was wondergin what is chris playing? during the second part of the song he plays the same riff that Jonny does, but on the third part is he playing just the chords? It seems he's playing e-0--3 B-1--0 G-2--0 D-0--0 A-3--2 E-3--3 (according to the lyrics) and then he plays something else but I have no idea what it is, I thought it was just the bassline but on live videos show somethingelse
Tnspieler1012
Well by what i recall Chris uses a capo, and the chords are G# and C#. I suspect he uses an alternate tuning like Jonny, and it looks like after each verse he slides up an octave, but I've been waiting to see an official tab to sort it out. Tnspieler1012
Tough to see because it's capo 1. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEKodlBYwhY&feature=related]YouTube - 42 - Today Show - 27th June '08[/ame] You get a clear look at about 2:
Mig-El
Yes he plays the same chord but in a different way by the handclaps time CAPO on 1st fret Ab e---3----X B---0----9 G---0----0 D---0----10 A---2----11 E---3----X Db e-0----9 B-1----9 G-2----10 D-0----11 A-3----11 E-3----9 First shape while he sings and the second (of each chord) as the drums nad handclaps hit which is like 3 strums. The Scientist Man
yeah you can play it without a capo, but I came to realize that most of VLVorAHDF songs can be played with a Capo on the 1st fret: Cemetries of London, 42, Viva La Vida, Voilet Hill, and Strawburry Swing. These are the ones I know for sure you can and they sound great ;)
Tnspieler1012
It's a lot like AROBTTH in that sense because most of the songs are played in flat keys. (Politik, The Scientist, Clocks, Daylight, Amsterdam, Life is for living (live) and all those songs you just mentioned as well DAAHF's). I think that's just because it's Chris favorite to key to play in on piano. but it can be really tough arranging guitar to accompany it. That's why you see some very funky riffs coming from Jonny, like in the outro to the scientist.
