Can't help you with the "supporting ideas with specific incidents from the play" part considering I haven't read it. I can also judge from that prompt that I have an awesomer English teacher than you so there :smug: He'd never make us necessarily include "examples of a tragic hero." Not that that's related or anything.

 

Well tragic heros have to get at least some of the stuff right some of the time or else their eventual downfall wouldn't be very tragic.... sooooooo....

this is a very general statement, which doesn't pull the reader in as an intro. You might want to remove this entirely. Try introducing the concept of a 'tragic hero' in a different way. Describe what a tragic hero is.

 

The reader empathizes with the hero's personality flaws. Events in the story remind the reader of her own encounters.

 

We are still making general statements, but you can rephrase this. I've just written an example^

 

One example is Prince Hamlet from the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

 

I'd also rephrase this more like, "In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Prince Hamlet..."

 

I hope that helps you to feel better about your start. Sometimes it's good for someone else to take a look too :)
