"Now my feet won't touch the ground"

Featured Replies

No, not the song, but the phrase in general.

It's in that song, "Life in Technicolor ii" and "Strawberry Swing".

Has it ever mentioned why or anything? Or does anyone have any insight to why Chris, Will, and the rest of Coldplay have put that phrase into three different songs?

My guess is it has something to do with stuff like this:

;)

And it's four songs. The Yellow single has a B-side called No More Keeping My Feet on the Ground!

There's a repeating phrase in X&Y (album, not song) too- "if you never try, you'll never know" ;) I think they like to have a repeating line, it's a nice thread to keep throughout the album

The point has been raised before, I guess chris just liked those lyrics and they fit in with the song.

I believe The Oracle once answered this about how many Coldplay songs repeat themes and phrases, like ladders to the sun. It draws some criticism, but whatever.

I've once made a list with metaphors often used on an album, I need to find the list. :D

Parachutes has often had the "living in a bubble", if I don't get it wrong,

and X&Y the "puzzle" situation, VLV clearly has the "my feet won't touch the ground" phrase. :D

I don't think that it's bad, I think it's okay, but if it gets too often per album, it'll get annoying and uncreative (in my opinion).

It's good to have a recurring line throughout albums, etc..

:laugh3: I remember I used to hate that band Maroon 5 because of similar reasons

"...cause I won't say goodbye anymore"

"...Six foot tall, came without a warning, so I had to shoot him dead

he won't come around here anymore"

"Give me something to believe in cause I don't believe in you anymore, anymoooore"

And then I noticed that Coldplay does the same thing :laugh3:

Whatever, I like it now.

Yes, it's repetitive, but it adds to each and every song.

It fits :)

I find it ironic that this phrase is in 4 songs, and then they have a song called "Gravity". Make up your mind.

Hahahahaha

But this is canceled out by a little song called "Parachutes." ;)

And hey, what about "The World Turned Upside Down" and "Your World Turns Upside Down"? :o
