The Knife is a musical duo from Sweden formed in 1999. The band consists of siblings Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer, who also run their own record company, Rabid Records.

Silent Shout was named the best album of 2006 by Pitchfork Media.

At the Grammis awards in January 2007, The Knife won in all six categories they were nominated in: Composer of the Year, Music DVD of the Year, Producer of the Year, Pop Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Well Olof have done some DJ work while Karin worked on her album. Then they decided to write an opera and I think they are done with that one now. Rumours say they'll start to record another The Knife album very soon, when Karin is done with her tour. I can't wait!

Yes, they have! On their website it says: "The Knife, together with Mount Sims and Planningtorock are planning to release a studio version of the opera. Recordings are under progress, release early 2010." And then you can see it in some different places, premiere September the 2nd, in Copenhagen.

 

I'd never have guessed that they'd write an opera. They always suprise me.
