What do you think of this?

it's a quote from Nick Hornby's High Fidelity

what do you think?

"....People worry about kids playing with guns, and teenagers watching violent videos; we are scared that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands of songs about broken hearts and rejection and pain and misery and loss. The unhappiest people I know , romantically speaking, are the ones who like pop music the most; and I don't know whether pop music has caused this unhappiness, but I do know that they've been listening to the sad songs longer than they've been living the unhappy lives."

Makes alot of sense actually.

This makes me thnk of something else, I'm about to go off topic :uhoh:

Halloween. It doesn't make sense.

All this time of kids being told not to take candy from stranges and then sending them out to take candy from a million strangers

yeah I think that first part is rather exaggerated...I mean violence and guns harm other people in the first place....sadness harms yourself in the first place....but that part that music causes more sadness is actually true sometimes...or maybe it's not the reason for the sadness it just sets the emotions free....(that expression was weird...)

i think music often helps people wallow in self-pity.

i know that when i'm sad i love to listen to sad music to get it all out and to live through the emotions.

So I'm sad because I listen to pop?

Speaking of depression..I remember when I was about 4 or 5 yrs old...that I would go running upstairs and cry my eyes out on my bedroom without a 'reason'. As I got older the same emotion never quite went away..it just makes me wonder why I would do that...specially for a kid who had everything.
