[DVD] Sound Relief DVD ON SALE 9TH OCTOBER

Featured Replies

I believe absolutely bloody everyone missed out on hearing about this, but the Sound Relief benefit concert that Coldplay participated in will indeed be released on DVD!

On March 14, 2009, over 28 local and international artists gathered to raise funds for the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal and The Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal to help heal communities that had been impacted by two devastating disasters. In what became the biggest fundraising music event in the history of Australia, two star-packed concerts were created and ran simultaneously from Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sydney Cricket Ground under the unified banner Sound Relief. The LIVE broadcast by Channel [V] and MAX delivered this amazing event to those who could not secure a ticket or attend the event personally.

Over 100,000 people attended each of these emotive concerts and together with TV and online viewers around the country, Australians poured their hearts out to help raise over $8 million dollars. With spectacular line-ups in both cities and memorable performances all around (from Coldplay and Kings of Leon, to The Presets and Midnight Oil’s reunion set), a comprehensive DVD release was not only desirable, but mandatory. Fortunately, an astonishing 4-DVD set featuring all the artists involved in the event (yes, you read right, every single one) will hit shelves on October 9.

“It is fitting that such a tremendous event can be immortalised on DVD and the generosity of the artists involved must again be acknowledged and commended,” Michael Gudinski said in a statement.

All the DVD profits will go to the Red Cross.

From what I've heard, it will RRP at $35 and will have a total of 4 DVDs. Profits to Red Cross and no royalties - everyone involved put in royalty free clearances so expect it to raise a bit!

You could order it from all your favourite Aussie music stores - international buyers can also order it from an Aussie music store such as JB HiFi for one example.

Rejoice!

If anyone can clean this up so it isn't so ugly and messy and more of an actual Coldplaying-like news article that would be much appreciated. I just can't seem to get the hang of it and make a real mess.

Nobody cares?

Apparently, new date is 9th October.

Yeah I heard about this a few weeks ago, I'll be getting it when I have a bit of cash in my bank account. As of right now I am broke broke broke. I missed Sound Relief because I had a Coldplay concert that night. Good to know it's coming out on DVD. :)
