Would you believe it eh?! Doesn't seem like 10 years since we were preparing for the new Millenium was it. Even as a 9 year old kid, I remember it crystal clear. Time flies.

 

Anyway this is THE thread to discuss what you feel to be the moments that this decade has thrown up in the world of news and sport. I guess I can speak for most if not all people in stating that 9/11 was the defining moment of the past 10 years and arguably the past 50 years.

 

 

It no doubt changed the world we lived in almost immediately. The war on terror - Afghanistan, Iraq. Shattered relations between the East and West. It arguably gave rise to the massive big brother world we live in today. Here's hoping something as awful doesn't occuu in the next decade.

 

In sport, as ever there are thousands of moment to choose from. For me personally I choose between two things that are close to my heart. One of the greatest sporting moments for me personally was seeing Liverpool win the Champions League in 2005 - the greatest football match ever.

 

 

What about you lot? What are the news and sport headlines you remember most. Doesn't have to be international - could be local as well.

What I'm saying is that privacy is always intruded upon these days but without 9/11 the state is concerned so much with capturing possible terrorists (as well as the catching other crimes) that the governments feel then need to put so much monitoring on our streets. Amateur photographers have been stopped and searched for example, one example being a guy who was recently done so by just for taking pictures of Christmas lights. I did a politics essay about the issue recently so I'm pretty certain about what I'm dealing with here mate unlike yourself.
