Man stabbed to death after "snowball fight"

Featured Replies

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death following a snowball fight in Denbighshire, police said.

Anthony Finbar Burke was injured in the abdomen by a kitchen knife near his home in Clos-y-Berllan in Rhuddlan at around 2230 GMT on Wednesday.

North Wales Police said he died later in Glan Clwyd hospital at Bodelwyddan.

Oliver Michael Taylor is charged with murder and remains in custody until he appears at magistrates on Boxing Day.

'Big, big shock'

North Wales Central Coroner John Hughes opened an inquest into Mr Burke's death.

Police have cordoned off an area near where Anthony Burke was stabbed

He was told that Mr Burke, who lived in Clos-y-Berllan, had been attacked with a kitchen knife. He died later in hospital.

A post mortem examination by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rogers found he died from shock and haemorrhage from a stab wound to the abdomen.

The inquest was adjourned.

Part of Clos-y-Berllan was cordoned off as about half a dozen police officers carried out detailed searches in gardens close to the scene of the stabbing.

There has been a steady flow of visitors to Mr Burke's home, where it is understood he lived with his mother.

Neighbour Andy Humphreys told BBC Wales: "He was a good lad, always knocking about. It's a shame to hear what's happened. He's just a young lad, isn't he?"

Ray Patton, who lives across the street, said: "I've known him all his life. He's a 20-year-old lad. He'd be 21 in June, actually. It's just a tragedy for the whole village. It's a big, big shock for a village like Rhuddlan for something like this to happen."

wow... some people take things a bit too seriously

Somewhat of an understatement, I'd say.:dozey:

nah

So you think killing someone because of a snowball fight is only taking things a bit too seriously?:stunned:

Where do you live, then? In da Bronx?

sorta near the bronx, but i mean it as sarcasm. I think it's insane that someone would kill someone else over a snowball fight. It's in the same way how last year a guy was crushed to death because of people rushing in to get to walmart to shop. some people just have no regard for human life

Very true indeed, sadly.

must've been retaliation for a direct hit!

I know this isn't a funny story, it's not funny at all but that comment just made me laugh
