January 10, 201016 yr This isn'y my video, but this video helped me make the decision to buy a boss RV-5, the modulation mode cranked sounds A LOT like the effect Jonny uses, at least it does in this video. For those who are looking to buy, I suggest you watch this. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo6Fk6U07aI]YouTube- BOSS RV-5 - Digital Reverb - Demo[/ame]

January 13, 201016 yr according to this site, Jonny ditched the RV-3 for an RV-5 and now that I'm looking at pics of his setup it looks as if it's true! http://www.guitar-rigs.com/artists/b/buckland-jonny.html EDIT: Yeah that's definitely any RV-5, because in the pictures on the site, his RV3 has two inpute and outputs and the RV-3 only has one input and output.
January 15, 201016 yr I just got the Rv-5, and it's as close as you'll come to getting Jonnys effect, it sounds identical to the studio & live versions depending on the settings of the pedal. I would definitely reccomend it. The modulation effect is probably what Jonny uses to play life in technicolor and lovers in japan. It's awesome. I'll try to make a video, but the camera I have is bad quality for sound.

January 15, 201016 yr Yeah for sure right now I just have the verb settings for lovers in japan and in my place viva live version oh and death and all his friends
January 16, 201016 yr I believe the Eventide Unit is creating most of the delay in the live version. However, a HUGE part of the sound comes from the MXR Phase 90, which creates the "oscellating"(sp) effect heard throughout the main melody. It's aboubt as basic a phaser pedal as you can get, so it's pretty readily available, and it will do more to replicate the tone of the song than any reverb effect you use.
