September 20, 201016 yr Paris Hilton pleads guilty to drug possession and obstruction but escapes jail By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 5:25 PM on 20th September 2010 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Paris Hilton pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor offences in a Las Vegas court today - drug possession and obstructing a public officer. The heiress agreed to pay a $2,000 fine and complete 200 hours of community service. Hilton was warned by Judge Joe Bonaventure that if she is arrested for anything more than a minor traffic violation she faces one year in Clark County Detention Centre. Entourage: Paris Hilton arrived at the Las Vegas court house early this morning flanked by her legal team and police security In case she was in any doubt, Bonaventure told Hilton: 'The Clark County Detention Center is not the Waldorf Astoria.' Hilton was also ordered to complete an 'intensive' substance abuse program and was warned by Bonaventure that she must change her behaviour. Today's court appearance stems from Hilton's August 27 arrest for possessing cocaine. Solemn: A sober Hilton pleaded guilty to drug posession and obstructing a public officer Hilton initially denied the cocaine was hers, claiming the handbag it was in belonged to somebody else. But as part of a plea deal Hilton accepted responsibility in return for no jail sentence. The 29-year-old arrived early to court, accompanied by her attorney, David Chesnoff. She was dressed smartly in a beige blouse and black dress and appeared to be in a solemn mood. Exit: Hilton was warned by the Judge to keep out of trouble, she also has to complete an 'intensive' substance abuse program According to U.S. website TMZ Hilton has heralded her arrest as 'a wake up call.' Going on to vow that she's using this experience to 'finally grow up and become a responsible adult.' She claims that she now wants to spend her time volunteering at animal shelters and focusing on her business empire. Mug shot: Hilton was all smiles as she posed for a very 'Hollywood' mug shot on August 28 If this sounds familiar it's because Hilton has made such claims before. She sat down for an interview with CNN's Larry King in July 2007 following a 23-day stint in jail for alcohol related reckless driving. At that time Hilton claimed her incarceration provided 'time to get to know myself' and promised 'I'm just going to follow all the laws' before vowing she would now spend her spare time 'doing good deeds.' Bright and breezy: Hilton arrived at the Las Vegas court house this morning at 7.00am Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1313681/Paris-Hilton-pleads-guilty-drug-possession-obstruction--avoids-jail.html#ixzz105uL1TCc

September 20, 201016 yr It sucks that she can get off so easy because she can hire a good attorney, but I feel bad for the everyday person who gets a felony for less than a gram of coke.
