i speak 5 languages but they are all local languages and English is the only international language i speak:shame:.

i want to learn more languages but i hated learning french coz it's so complicated so i just stopped taking french class:shame: and so now i really want to learn Spanish:rolleyes:

No no no! Don't be ashamed of that!! Local languages are SO much cooler than "international" ones. And it's important that people continue to speak their local and cultural languages. Sadly, 1 language dies out about every two weeks. That's so much, so fast. :freak: And it's because the languages' last speakers die. The younger generations are often less inclined to speak their cultural languages and lean towards bigger languages.

 

I USED TO HATE SPEAKING 3 LANGUAGE EVERYDAY but know that i've grown up i like it and it makes everyday a learning experience:laugh3:

i have to speak English coz its still our official language, Urdu coz its my national language and balochi its my language(and it has no written form and only is shared with the new generations by just conversing:thinking: so dont want it to die coz of me:uhoh: )

Imke my love, I think it is very impo that americans learn more than one language! I know it was not stressed when i was younger but we start the kids pretty early now. I know of people with au pairs or babysitters who have them speak to their children in a second language at a very young age. I think that some americans assume that everyone should speak english but that is very ignorant and we should know other languages and teach them as early as possible
