EdwardFan
Hi. I really like coldplay. I saw the last tour in CT. It was great. But i had one major issue. Something I was hoping the DVD was going to remedy for me: Yellow. The hit. 4 guys in the band. Will playing drums, Guy Bassing it, and John rocking out on electric, while Chris is jumping around on stage like a madman. Thats 4 guys. 3 Instruments. WHO IS PLAYING THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR? Will counts it off after the whole "You're Skin" intro, and john is just standing there. and at the end there is the acoustic guitar outro. Who is playing it? I didnt see anyone off stage, and I refused to beleive coldplay was sampling. So I get the DVD and go right to trouble to figure out what is going on. Nothing same 4 dudes same ghost acoustic guitar. I checked all the camera angles, nothing. It just kind of makes me wonder. Why would such a good band do that? When else are they doing it that i just dont notice? I could handle the organ intro to the show, cool, fine. But I think it is a little different to blatantly sample (i really hope this isnt the case and someone knows what is going on) in the middle of a hit. What is going on? I love coldplay, not coldplay karaoke. PS I realise this is my first post. Im not trying to ruffle feathers. Im a huge fan Im just confused and sad at what i think might be going on. mburn
the often do have other instruments being played by differnt people, take clocks or the scientistfor eg, you can hear chords from a string band just briefly bieing played to add extra sound to it, you dotn seriously atspect cm to be there with a violin do you? Ive seen loads of videos of cm playing yellow with an acoustic so this is prob a one off.
busybeeburns
the acoustic has been played live by a roadie behind the stage for the past few months :) Welcome to the board :D
Bring Back Shiver
They started doing that around the Earls Court shows so that Chris could jump around and interract with the crowd more.
TalkShowHost
Hey, EdwardFan, I noticed that too when I saw the DVD. It was like, um, aren't we missing something? I think it's kinda weird to have a ghost acoustic guitar player. (is he/she really that hideous or scared of the fame? :P j/k ) Although Chris jumping around is definitely entertaining! Zanzibar
It's Mr. Buckland. He seems to be playing through an acoustic effect pedal that makes his electric guitar sound like an acoustic when it's on. Listen to the song again. There's only one guitar. You never hear both the electric and the acoustic at the same time. It's just one guitar switching parts. There are some strings tracks that aren't live, though, on Yellow and some other songs, as well. A lot of bands use backing tracks like that. Chris doesn't have four arms to be playing piano and keyboards at once, you know. :)
