Our town had their fireworks tonight.

 

LAMEST. YEAR. EVER.

 

It didn't start until about 15 minutes after it was supposed to, then a bunch were shot off at once to start it out. Then nothing for 5 minutes. Another few. Nothing for another 5 minutes. A whole bunch really low on the lake for a strobe-light effect. Then nothing for another 10 minutes. Then a couple of normal fireworks. And that was it.

 

We had a huge rain storm, with really heavy hail, about 2 hours before the fireworks. I'm wondering if that messed up the stuff that was used to choreograph it somehow. :\

Well I found out earlier today that there indeed was a malfunction with the fireworks last night.

So they are rescheduling the fireworks display for next Saturday.

That sounds kinda pointless, though, to have it almost a week late, doesn't it? :\

Yeah but the fireworks have already been purchased, and they are funded only by donations, so the people that donated (including myself via raffle tickets) probably wouldn't be happy if they didn't get to see all of the fireworks.

 

It actually might be good for businesses though because they'll get two Saturdays in a row with lots of people hanging around. :D

It's sophisticated stuff, easy for something to malfunction. So you get to enjoy two shows then!! :)

For independence day, I will be finding out more about Arizona's reform measures, and Maine's, looking into what can be done to bring round fair elections. Good to keep in mind what Independence day really means:

The fact that this post is here should tell you how I'm spending my holiday.

Unless you're in NJ, where fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, etc are illegal without a permit. :awesome:

Steve Martin was fantastic, but that was it. :P I thought Little Richard sounded terrible.

 

I thought the Boston fireworks were much better. . . Not surprising though, they have the Boston Pops. :heart:

I thought it was great!

Boston's Pops are great too - and fireworks are top rated, but hey, I like a variety show! ;)
