Re: coldplay vs radiohead- who has best lyrics?

What the fuck is everyone thinking? Coldplay's lyrics blow (Keep in mind that its song LYRICS versus other song LYRICS).

In my place v Creep: Wow, this is a hard one... I like Chris' "In my place, in my place..." but the song from then on spews garbage. Lets look at the chorus: "Yeah how long must you wait for it? Yeah how long must you pay for it?" Fantastic how more cliche could you be? The words are so boring "If you go, if you go, and leave me out here on my own" its just incredibly cliche, Coldplay dont write lyrics they rip-off of catchphrases and lines that have been said a million times before. Creep, much different story, some great lines in there "Float like a feather, in a beautiful world, youre so fucking special, I wish I was special" it sounds much fresher than anything Coldplay have ever written, especially the chorus; "But Im a creep, Im a winner, what the hell am I doin here? I dont belong here" thats an excellent chorus. Then the bridge line, its a bit cliche but they mix it up; "Shes strong enough to run, shes wrong enough to run" pretty good.

Winner: Creep

the scientist v Paranoid Andriod: Hahaha The Scientist is a perfect example of Coldplay's cliche writings; "Nobody said it was easy, noone ever said it would be this hard" excellent Chris, if you met up with Roy Walker Im sure you'd win a holiday on 'Catchphrase'. Lets look at the verse lines... "Come up to see you, tell you Im sorry, tell you how lovely you are" Jeesus christ thats nearly worse than Trouble. The only line I dont mind from Scientist is; "Questions of science, science in progress" which isnt even that good. Paranoid Android was very odd, but it had some really good lines in it and is way more worth my time than the Scientist (Because its about 20 times more interesting). I know I know, words like unbornchikkenvoices is a bit retarded but they were building on a succesful style at the time. Some good lines in it, "When I am king you will be first against the wall" impressive, the chorus is pretty cool too, but maybe thats because Ive heard the song "Huh? Whats that?". The last "verse" is sexcellent; "Rain cloud, rain cloud, from a rain cloud oh yeah... From a great height, from a great height... Rain down..." Great lines.

Winner: Paranoid Android (Without a freakin doubt)

Yellow v Karma Police: Theres no competition once again, even though I feel Karma Police was one of Radioheads worstly written songs Yellow is just horrible, not really horrible, more like so bland it has to be horrible. "I ran across, I jumped across for you" is alright but then "And all the things we do"......What?! The last bit of the chorus; "Turn to something beautiful, you know, you know I love you so..." DAMN thats just bad. "For you Id bleed myself dry" is pretty good, admitadly. Very poorly written pop jingle. Karma Police was pretty bad in parts, mainly the first few lines "Karma police, arrest this girl her Hitler hairdo is making me ill" but the chorus is good "This is what you get...When you mess with us" Its pretty interesting, makes you wonder who he was writing for. And the end is cool "For a minute there, I lost myself". Its alright, not Radioheads best written song no doubt.

Winner: Karma Police

Clocks v Street spirit: Yeah this is a pretty ridiculous one as well, c'mon, Clocks vs Street Spirit? Thats laughable. I'll start with the chorus of Clocks, "You, are". I'll repeat, like Chris does, "You, are". OK lets do it again for larfs, "You.....Are." Thrilling man, you keep to your piano and you'll be aaaawlright..... And the end is quite boring writing too, back to Chris' catchphrase of the day, "Nothing else compares". Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!111

Street spirit on the other hand, is excellent. Best written song off of The Bends. I'll dedicate much of my time to reminice on the lyrics; "Rows of houses, all bearing down on me, I can feel their blue hands their touching me, all these things in all positions, all these things will one day take control." Sexy or what? "This machine will not communicate, these thoughts and the strain I am under, be a world, child form a circle before we all go under, and fade out, fade out again." Theres more good ones in the 3rd verse but I'll just finish with the line that would beat anything Chris would write ever; "Immerse your soul in love". Original, truly excellent. Clocks however, stop trying to be so damn spacey and go back to your little pop jingles.

Winner: Street Spirit

Trouble v no surprises: Trouble is the worst Coldplay lyrics on this topic. The verses are truly bad, this is alright though; "Oh no, whats this? A spiderweb and Im caught in the middle" but then he makes the analogy seem less metaphorical and its all bad; "I try to run, thinking of all the stupid things Ive done" bleagh. And the chorus is "I never meant to cause you trouble, I never meant to do you harm, oh if I ever cause you trouble, you know I never meant to do you harm" thats fucking terrible (Once again, terrible because of how bland it is). No Surprises is excellently written, Radiohead stay on a theme but dont write absolute crap at the same time. The song is about basically "Taking the quiet life" but it also contains some good lines like; "To bring down the government, they dont, they dont speak for us." The chorus is very cool, "No alarms and no surprises for me" thats great, sticks with the theme, 2nd verse does too, "This is my final fit, my final, bellyache" thats great, and so is "Such a pretty house, such a pretty garden" is all runs perfectly. A simple Radiohead lyric song but they totally knew what they were doing when they made it. Id say that Trouble is a huge mess but that would be complimenting it too much, once again, way too bland.

Winner: Get a fucking clue you nimrod.

Ive spent a half hour writing this post, so if you want to challenge anything Ive said (Which I urge you to do) please do it properly not "Hey its my opinion man" which aint helping anyone here. Ive given my reasons, give yours.

band members ability

singers ability

I personally would say screw the two bands cos theyre nothing to nirvana but thats not the subject.
