If today is Friday...

I understand what hes saying. Of course you wouldn't say "I'll do it next year" unless your trying to be a goofball. At the end of the year, everybody always makes that joke "See you next year lololol" over and over again.

But when me and my friend were talking, we weren't talking about dogs. We were talking about band practice and I said (on Friday) "I can't practice next week."

That doesn't sound that retarded or confusing to me.

It's not a 'versus', you wouldn't say either, saying that you're going to do something later today as 'later this year' is just as retarded. "Next" week, month, year, implies there's some form of a gap depending on the scale of what you're talking about, 1 or even 2 days isn't a gap, so for the purposes of not sounding weird and awkward to the rest of humanity, on a 'Friday' if you are talking about 'Sunday' then just say 'Sunday', saying 'next week' implies it's a rough period probably at least 3 or 4 days in the future.

I'm normally all for debating nitpicky principles and how they should apply, but like I said in my original post, this isn't one of those times, and I've thought about it enough.

Just use common sense, people need to life better.
