Wait, what about Charlie Brown and HLH? :uhoh:

Violet Hill and Death And All His Friends and Yes and Strawberry Swing and Glass of Water and Prospekt's March . . . I'll stop now :wacky:

The video ruined CB for me, now whenever I listen to it I'm going to think of hormonal teenagers making out in a nightclub :blank:

As for HLH, it depends on my mood  Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't.

That would make it better, but to me the lyrics are so . . . empty. It just sounds like another pop song that no one will remember in five years.

It really kills me to say that about Coldplay :disappointed: I fell in love with their deep lyrics and their amazing melodies and just the uniqueness of the Viva era . . . not this.

I have erased the CB video from my memory by watching the live video over and over again.

I haven't been in a Coldplay mood for almost a month now. :uhoh:

People still remember Girlfriend, and those lyrics are definitely worse than Princess of China.

To be honest, I'm more of a melody person. While lyrics do affect how likely it is that I will love a song, the song's actual sound is what hooks me.

..which is why I love VLV so much.

I'm listening to Yes now :wacky: Now those are some brilliant lyrics and melody lines

I keep watching Strawberry Swing and The Scientist

I've only listened to the same 15 Coldplay songs for a while now :uhoh: Plus a bunch of other random songs (Elbow, U2, etc.)

For the longest time, I didn't understand Yes's (?) lyrics. I do now, but I still like the lyrics to Violet Hill much more. :wacky:

Good plan.

Which fifteen?

Girlfriend? :uhoh: Actually, never mind, I don't want to know :P

The melody is important also, but I think the lyrics are slightly more important (of course, if there's a song with absolutely brilliant lyrics but has the dullest melody in the world, I probably won't listen to it).

. . . And that's why I love Viva also--it had both!

Avril Lavrigne.

I grew up with classical music without lyrics; I wasn't even exposed to modern music until I was around eleven or twelve. Don't get me wrong, lyrics are important for me, but I can overlook lyrics that aren't completely empty, as long as the melody sounds great.

True enough. :P

(I still don't understand the lyrics to Strawberry Swing, though. :uhoh:)

 Yes, Violet Hill, and DAAHF are the three best songs from the Viva (with Glass of Water, Strawberry Swing, and Prospekt's March close behind), although I can't decide which is the best. :P

Umm . . .

Up With The Birds

various live versions of Clocks

Swallowed In The Sea

A Rush Of Blood To The Head (Live 2003)

Glass Of Water

DAAHF

Yes

Violet Hill

Strawberry Swing

I Bloom Blaum

Yellow (piano acoustic version)

GPASUYF

Help Is Round The Corner

HYSTW

Green Eyes

I would put VLV itself in that list. :P

Glass of Water :dazzled:

....there's a piano acoustic version of Yellow?

Oh. That explains it then. :blank:

Ah, I can see why you would prefer melody over lyrics then :P (I grew up listening to Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra )

I don't completely understand them either . . . as far as I can tell, they're about dreaming of a perfect world, or a world without war, pain, poverty, etc. Or something. To be honest, Strawberry Swing is one of the few songs that I've never been able to completely comprehend the lyrics. :P

And it's from 2006. :blank:

My dad's turning sixty nine (....PBD :uhoh:) this year. Jonny Cash was nine years old when my dad was born.

EXACTLY.

I don't even attempt to analyze most lyrics.

:stunned: YES LET ME SHOW YOU IT:

I still am. :charming:

..when I listened to that, I kept thinking, "When is this going to morph into Gravity?"

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first heard it!

I never cared much for Yellow until I heard this version, and now I love it :wacky:

I like it better with a guitar.

Sorry. :P

I used to rule the world

Seas would rise when I gave the word

Lovers in Japan is probably another one of my favorites. That was the song that really made me interested in Coldplay. (thanks, random babysitter!)

It doesn't sound anything like the typical version of Yellow I'm used to hearing. :P

Hurrah for random babysitter! :vuvuzela:

My mom had Clocks on a random playlist and I heard it one day and loved it. And now I'm here :P

I still can't understand half of Rainy Day's lyrics. :blank:

Technically, they were my friend's babysitter, not mine, but oh well. :P

I didn't even realize that Clocks was by Coldplay until I listened to AROBTTH for the first time (which was after I listened to VLVODAAHF).
