Coldplay announce east coast Australian tour, Brisbane concert on November 21, 2012

BRITISH band Coldplay ended months of speculation by announcing they will play Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, November 21.

The tour takes in the biggest venues the band have headlined in Australia so far.

The band will play only east coast dates in Australia, and their schedule includes the possibility of second dates in Brisbane, as well as other venues in Melbourne and Sydney, depending on demand.

Frontman Chris Martin said the band were itching to return Down Under. "It's such a special place for us," he said.

"These venues are pretty huge. The Aussie crowds are always incredible and we'll be bringing everything we've got.

"It's going to be big."

The opening acts have been hand-picked by Coldplay, including Melbourne band The Temper Trap and US band The Pierces, whose album was produced by Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman.

Coldplay's tour, in support of No.1 album Mylo Xyloto, has been super-sized to fit into stadiums.

A Coldplay presale for Visa card holders starts on May 17. See visaentertainment.com.au for full details.

Tickets from Ticketmaster start at $99, and will go on sale on May 25 at 9am.

Whoop. Sorry, man -- just saw your post. Yep, I'll be flying in from Sydney the day before and definitely plan on camping out all day. Same for Melbourne, too. Who are you heading up with? :)

Awesome, I'm going to Melbourne too (and will be at Etihad from about 7am if you're interested :D) I'll be going to Brisbane with my sister. She's not a huge Coldplay fan, but she's gonna hang around anyways  We should meet up for both shows!

Sweet. And totally game for a 7AM line-up. I'm going with a couple of friends in Melbourne -- one of whom is totally up for lining up as well -- and in Brisbane, I'll hopefully be with another friend who isn't a huge fan, but like your sister, is happy to hang around, too. Meeting up would be great!

ETA: anyone getting tickets this morning in the general sale? Literally, I have not once been able to load the Ticketek page. I am only looking out of curiosity, but still. Why won't it load? :annoyed:

I got my tickets this morning in the general sale. I'm over on the Western Stand in the Gold seating.

I'm so excited! This will be my second time seeing Coldplay. I last saw them on March 8th 2009 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre and I thought they wouldn't be able to top the visuals of the Viva La Vida Tour, but the Mylo Xyloto Tour looks amazing!

I didn't have any problems with the website all day so I dunno...

Coldplay to announce more tickets?

Coldplay are coming to New Zealand in November

Tickets to Coldplay's tour of New Zealand and Australia went on sale to an overwhelming response.

With just a handful of tickets now remaining in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Coldplay’s international production manager flew into New Zealand and Australia last week to visit every show city.

The venues and their respective seating arrangements were assessed to establish where more tickets could be made available for fans who had missed out.

Coldplay's management team in the UK have since said there will be more tickets to release for sale, the exact numbers are still to be determined.

Ticket-buyers have been warned to not purchase tickets from unauthorised resellers.

They have been urged to be patient, as there will be a number of legitimate tickets released in the coming weeks.

Coldplay will be supported by The Temper Trap and The Pierces.

im sitting right near the back (710) i have never been to suncorp stadium or a concert. do you guys think ill be able to see them from my seat? is it an okay view?

I'm gonna be honest, that's a long way from the stage so don't expect to see a whole heap of the band. In saying that, however, they've designed the show so everyone is the entire arena will be able to see the whole show and even people sitting at the back will see heaps. There'll be plenty of fireworks, lasers and whatnot to watch from your seats, so despite the fact you're a long way from the stage I'm sure it'll still be an awesome show :)

Oh, and they're doing an acoustic set on that little stage up the back like they did on the last tour, so maybe you'll be close when they do that :P

WANTED: Brisbane Field A Ticket 21st Nov

Hey Guys,

Sorry if I got this in the wrong section of the forum, I'm chasing a last minute Field A ticket for the gig at Suncorp, my dear Mum thought she would be fine to miss this tour but after watching Live 2012 last night she changed her mind, now I'm trying to track one down! If anyone is selling one that would be great, been scanning Gumtree too but am weary buying off there. Please PM me if anyone has a spare, would be much appreciated!

Sam :)

P.S. How good was Live 2012!!!
