Mark
Is vinyl really the best way to listen to music, sound-wise or does it make no difference? Not a factual poll, just what do people prefer? Do people genuinely buy records to listen to on vinyl because it's better quality? Do people just not care either way?
the_gloaming09
From my experience vinyl does sound better. There's a much more dynamic range of sounds. Perfect example is Burial/Four Tet's song Nova. The digital version is great, but when I played it on vinyl there were a few other layers that you couldn't hear before

Italian Plastic
Depends on the records as well. Most of my 'rock' music records sound exactly like the mp3s to me, possibly with a little bit more depth but it's not noticeable. Electronic music sounds better. Wider range of frequencies or something
Mark
Interesting. I have a vinyl player but I must admit I don't listen to vinyl for the sound quality; I do it for the ritual of having to sit down and pay attention to a record.
