I would just like to know the exact techniques of songwriting chris explained in the interview because i didn't quite understand, especially the 11pm bit :(

What exactly did you don't understand? Usually at 11 PM is when he gets creative and starts composing music and lyrics. Sometimes he "forces" himself by sitting in the piano and playing until some note or melody gets to him.
