I'm travelling from Gothenburg, and my friends really don't like Coldplay. Does someone, guys or girls from Gothenburg or other parts of Sweden, want to go to the concert together? I'm going to buy tickets, so the dream comes true and I want to share my joy with other people. So looking forward to the concert at Friends Arena.

Love Coldplay and Sweden!

So the tickets will only be sold via Livenation website, not Ticketmaster?

No, they'll be available via Ticnet (the Swedish version of Ticketmaster) as AlexanderS kindly pointed out.

Presale will be available for American Express customers. It starts 25/11 8.00 CET. Info here: http://americanexpresstickets.se/pages/index.php?lang=en

General tickets will be sold via ticnet.se, the swedish version of Ticketmaster.

Thank you AlexanderS, I've updated the first post with this new information!

Oh dear, I've barely slept because of all the ticket excitement. :D

Just bought a ticket through the AMEX presale. It was fairly easy, even though the site was empty in the beginning. And props to Ticnet offering eTickets. Not so keen to pay riduculous sums for postage to Germany on top of the already ridiculous ticket prices.

Hello Friends (pun intentional)...

I'm traveling to Scandinavia this summer from New York to see a beautiful part of the world I haven't seen...And to see Coldplay. Now I just need tickets to Stockholm and Copenhagen. In the US I'm very good at getting tickets, but in Europe I don't know all the vendors, outlets, and rules, so just want to make sure that I get REAL tickets.

Any and all ideas would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Matt

Welcome! It really is very lovely here in summer so I'm sure you will have a nice stay. Now, as you may know the tickets for both concerts in Copenhagen and for the one in Stockholm is sold out. In Denmark it is illegal to sell tickets at a higher price than the face value. That is not the case in Sweden so it's possible for you to get tickets through unofficial resellers like biljettnu.se, biljett24.se and so on. The price is higher but you should get valid tickets although there have been cases where people haven't got their tickets...

Copenhagen is different. I suggest you keep an eye on the official reseller, billetnet.dk. At almost every big concert like this there are more tickets released as we get closer to the concert. The same goes for Stockholm. Otherwise I'm afraid you have to rely on buy/sell markets like viagogo or dba.dk.

Thank you Alex. Very nice of you. In the USA I know these details like you do so this was very helpful. I will check out biljettnu.se, biljett24.se, but can I count on the tickets being real? What happens if they're fake? In the US we have StubHub.com and if you buy fake tickets from their site they guarantee to make them good and get you in.

As for Copenhagen...That is amazing that it's not allowed to resell tickets at a higher price in the country. Are there any website/secondary resellers that sell tickets at face value? Also will there will be scalpers at the events selling tickets for a higher price illegally?

And I'm glad to hear you saying that they will probably release more tix as we get closer to the concerts. That happens all the time in the US, so glad there's a history of it overseas as well. That is usually what I count on to get good seats for face value.

The bottom line is I just want to make sure I get REAL tickets no matter what. There would be no worse feeling than traveling 4,000 miles and minutes before the show not being let in because you bought fake tickets. (shudder).

Anyway thank you again Alex. Let me know if you have any other thoughts or suggestions. I really appreciate it.

Best,

Matt

Biljettnu.se and biljett24.se are registered companies and have been around for several years. They operate just like any other scalper and buys a lot of tickets when they are released and then selling them for a higher price. I would say that the chance of getting ripped of is slim to none. Biljettnu.se even has an office in central Stockholm where you can collect your tickets in case you haven't recieved them when you arrive in Sweden. I did that myself when I bought a ticket for U2 the day before the concert. In the extreme event of you not getting tickets or fake ones you will certainly get a refund although that of course isn't much of a comfort.

As far as I know there aren't any secondary resellers in Denmark specifically for concert tickets. There is dba.dk, a danish buy/sell market for everything and occascionally it pops up Coldplay tickets and chances are there will be more closer to the concert. But you could try nordicbiljett.com, which is a Swedish company but they are also selling tickets to Copenhagen. http://nordicbiljett.com/biljettkategorier/konserter/coldplay-866.html

There may be scalpers outside the stadium on the day of the concert but I would definitely not wait that long. And as I mentioned there will be more official tickets released but it may not be until a week before the concerts and they'll probably be gone in seconds so it's up to if you want to wait that long.

The thing is. If I were you I would try to sort things out asap. The prices may be lower closer to the concerts but that also leaves no room for mistakes from these companies and they're usually under alot of stress the days prior to a big concert.

I'm happy to help you Matt :)

Alex-

You are amazing. Thank you so much. So basically as I understand it here are my ticket options:

Stockholm:

  • Ticnet.se - Essentially Ticketmaster of Sweden. Through Google translate it seems that they have "Platnum tickets," but they are about 4000 SEK ($500 USD) each which is crazy. Would need them to release regular seats closer to the show, but it says they're going to stop selling them on July 1 - Two days before the show. What happens if there are extra tickets left on July 2nd or day of show?
  • Biljettnu.se - This website is hard to use. You first click on the "English" version, but cannot search for an event so you have the Swedish version that is translated to English, but it doesn't translate several key words. Most importantly...It looks like you have to buy "good" or "best" seats without knowing exactly where they are so you just have to trust they are actually good or great.
  • Biljett24.se - The site looks and feels totally legit which gives you peace of mind. However it also looks like you can't see where the seats actually are before you buy them. Is this common because in the US there's no ticket broker/company that wouldn't show you exact seats prior to purchase.

Copenhagen:

  • Billetnet.dk - Again Ticketmaster for Denmark and totally real tickets. Just need to hope they release tickets prior to the show. It says they stop selling tickets on the day of the show so that makes sense to me and is encouraging.

  • Nordicbiljett.com - Same issue of not knowing where seats are prior to purchase. I emailed them to ask about this as well as their refund policy as this site doesn't look that professional. :anxious:

  • dba.dk - Hope that someone puts Coldplay tix up for sale and they're real. Not likely or trustworthy it sounds like.

Am I missing anything?

It's still amazing to me that Denmark has a policy that doesn't allow for any secondary ticket market at all. I mean what if a billionaire went on vacation to Denmark and wanted to see a concert there that was sold out, but he was willing to spend tons of cash? Why isn't there a website where people can resell tickets for face value there? Also you said to "sort things out ASAP" which I would love to do, but if there are no tickets available in Copenhagen now how can I do that?

Also you said, "The prices may be lower closer to the concerts but that also leaves no room for mistakes from these companies and they're usually under alot of stress the days prior to a big concert." What did you mean by that?

Again thank you so much. If you're around when I'm in town I owe you a beer for sure. :drinking:

Thanks again,

Matt

Also I saw the ViaGoGo has tickets for sale in Cophenhage:

http://www.viagogo.com/Concert-Tickets/Alternative-and-Indie/Coldplay-Tickets/E-1391792

Is ViaGoGo a legitimate source for tickets? If so how do they have tickets for sale above face value? Is it because they are located outside of Denmark? If so and you get fake tickets how do they handle?

I also found this: http://www.ticketbis.com/en/coldplay-copenhagen-tickets/ev92038. Looks like a resale site from fans and not brokers. Not a great selection and more expensive, but perhaps if I'm desperate.

Thanks again Alex.

You totally got it right which means you've also highlighted the problems of buying tickets on the secondary market.

Stockholm

I agree with you that it doesn't feel comfortable to not know the exact location of your seats. But this is actually standard procedure in Sweden and it's because the people selling the tickets don't want to run the risk of getting their tickets canceled by the promoters.

  • Ticnet: The regular sale ends on July 3rd and the platinum on July 1st. The platinum tickets will almost certainly be put back to the regular sale and my guess is it will happen aprox 1-2 weeks prior to the concert. There will probably also be some extra standing tickets available once the stage is in place.

  • Biljettnu: Their english site is a joke, I know, and this is also a company with a bad record. In 2012, hundreds of people got screwed when they bought tickets to Bruce Springsteen. But they must be doing something right since they're still up and running.

  • Biljett24: Together with biljettnu the biggest reseller of tickets on the secondary market. Haven't had any major incidents (as far as I know) and I would definitely call it legit. Again, the exact section, row and number is kept a secret so the concert promoters can't block scalpers and their credit cards from buying tickets and make a profit of it.

What I mean is that IF you choose to buy through any of these companies, the earlier you buy your tickets, the longer time biljettnu and biljett24 have to get tickets for you (If they don't have in stock, which I'm 99% sure they do) and deliver them. And IF there would be any problems, you have time to get in touch with them. These are small companies with few employees and usually have alot to do the week of the concert.

Copenhagen

  • Billetnet: Same as Ticnet
  • Nordicbiljett: Yeah the site doesn't look that trustworthy but it was smart to contact them. Let me know their reply!
  • dba.dk: Can't say much about it. It's always a bit risky to buy straight from a person, especially if it's e-tickets.

Viagogo: Is a buy/sell market for concert tickets. The sellers are individuals and they're setting the price and are responsible for delivering their tickets to the buyer (with UPS) Viagogo charges a ridiculously high "service fee" on top of the ticket price. They're a big company but because they're relying so heavily on individual sellers you won't be absolutely sure you have valid tickets until it's time to enter the stadium. And I would definitely not buy e-tickets!!! If you in fact would get fake tickets you will be refunded.

You could ask biljett24, biljettnu and nordicbiljett if they have the tickets in stock. If they do and are ready to ship them then it won't be a problem. Or you could just wait for extra tickets to be released on ticnet and billetnet. I would stay away from both Viagogo and ticketbis.

Let me know what you do :)

Thank you Alex. So it seems that Sweden actually cares about stopping ticket brokers/scalping yes? If biljett24 and biljettnu are legit companies then why aren't they allowed to advertise exactly where tickets are located? I could understand if they don't have them yet and you're just buying a section, but then again if they don't have the tickets yet...Where are they getting them from?

Anyway have you seen how tickets are sold on Ticketmaster in the US? You can literally choose the seats you want. Take a look:

http://www.ticketmaster.com/coldplay-a-head-full-of-chicago-illinois-07-23-2016/event/040050369F8F28E1?artistid=806431&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60

Also Nordic Biljett wrote me back today and said:

"Hi! We are specialised in sold out events and therefore we do not specify the exact position or seat of the tickets, of course when you purchase tickets through our website we give you 150% in guarantee that the tickets are legit, if anything is wrong with your tickets our staff is on place and replaces your tickets and pay you back for the cost, luckily this has never happened since we double check al our tickets before selling them, if you specify what event you are interested in I might be able to help you specify the seating if possible.

Best regards

Med vänliga hälsningar

Nordic Biljett

Anyway at this point probably what I'm going to do is just wait, and pray, that they release seats closer to the show. I'm not in the mood to pay double/triple and not have 100% certainty that we will get into the show...Especially since there's not much I can do now from the US.

Again you are the best. Most appreciated all the advice you shared. Are you going to any of the shows? Something tells me I'm going to be getting in and my offer of a beer still stands.

Thanks again,

Matt

Well the situation is a bit complex. In Sweden, a large majority are against the fact that tickets goes for way over the face value. And Live Nation, obviously, strongly recommends people to only buy through official resellers. At the same time, Live Nation and Ticnet aren't willing to take the actions that is necessary in order to stop the scalpers. The only thing they can do, and have done a couple of times if I'm not mistaken, is to cancel tickets they suspect goes straight to the scalpers hence why biljettnu and biljett24, or any other seller, won't reveal the exact location of the tickets.

Therefore the answer from Nordicbiljett is not surprising. That doesn't mean they're selling fake tickets cause I really think they don't. But with you coming all the way from US I fully understand that you want to wait rather than paying double the face value for unspecified tickets from the Swedish secondary market :)

Just make sure you keep an eye on Live Nation Sweden, LUGER (the promoter for the show in Stockholm), Ticnet, Live Nation Denmark and Billetnet. Follow them on facebook and twitter! They will probably post a message when new tickets are released.

No problem Matt. I'm living in the most southern part of Sweden so I'm going to the first show in Copenhagen on July 5th :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Alex-

You are great. We mostly have the same problem in the US. 95% of all tickets sold go through Ticketmaster. Yet there is something called "TicketsNow.com" which claims it's a "ticket marketplace" linking up sellers and fans to get concert/sporting event tickets. Yet...If you just scroll down to the bottom of the page it says...

Our Family of Web Sites:

Ticketmaster

Live Nation

Gee...I wonder where they get their inventory from. It's such a joke and the public is too asleep to have any idea. Much like politics, people here/worldwide have no idea how good it can be and are content with scraps off the big table.

Anyway I will follow all those sites you suggested, but I'm going to be checking back frequently anyway. Also if it's like the US then the most amount of released tickets will happen within 2 weeks of the shows. I will also be in Copenhagen on July 5 and 6th so at least planning to see one of those shows as I mentioned. If there's going to be a meet up prior to any show would love to know about it. I'll be with my wife in Sweden and with wife and other friends on Copenhagen.

Also if you have any recommendations of things we need to see/do/eat/experience in and around Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Bergen/Norway I'm all ears. You've been so helpful that I'm sure you've got some great recommendations for those areas as well. :)

Again thank you for everything and look forward to speaking again soon.

Best,

Matt
