Modified Food

Recommended Posts

I am working for Greenpeace, like I just started as an official member but I knew about the campaigns and what we are doing now is about the Genetically Modified Food (Alimentos Transgénicos)

- Do you have any thought about that? Do you ever question what you are eating; how is i made? is it "healthy"? secure?

- Do you ever worried about that? Or you just go eating like a fish rides a bicicle?

I know some countries like Brasil labell those foods, but in my country, Chile, the goverment thinks it is not necesarry; they say we must trust the companies...... have you ever thought about this, at least?

Well, I wrote to Greenpeace Chile, and they just liked ignored me. Then I called them and then again, they kinda ignore me...... so then I looked for the one in charge of the organization in Chile, called him and talked to him personally and he was like amazed ( I always wobnder that, I mean If you want something you go for it! You dont give up at the 1st obstacule that appears) and I just joined them....... that's the whole story!

We are working on what I just said, but since I'll prolly be moving to a "sea city", I'll work on the whales thing!!! :D and the forest too! :D My favourite staff!!!

So, yes, it is the best! :D

why was he amazed?

Because I live in the middle fo nowhere, literally......

To go there I wake up at 8 a.m travel like an hour and a half and I jsut stay there for 3 hours, a t the most, and then I have Hockey p´ractise and .... staff.... yeah, and school assigment and I went alone, which is very rare here....... and I'm young and young people do not acre about this very much, at least here! So he was amazed, more by m insistance, as he said, but I just thought it was normal.....

I don't care though, I gave the first step already! I'm going for the 2nd one now! :D

I wrote a whole paper on it a couple of years ago actually.

We shouldnt be playing around with food and such because we don't know the long term effects, and we dont know the reprecautions of what will happen in the long run of things. We dont know exactly how to manipulate stuff, we could change one gene and inedvertantly change another one..etc.

I kinda made my family to understand that too; its funny but I also did a paper about that, well it started with the fungicides, that thing you ut on plants so bugs won't eat them, well I did a whole paper abput that and then how that turned into modified food and so.....

I think people do not reallt understand the impact fo that, and how bad it is for us. And the worst thing t's that not even the authorities are worrie about that, and they are suppose to take care for the good of the community!

I've convinced my arents not to buy products we know are modified though! At least that's something!

I've thought plenty about that. Our Prime Minister here in Canada is thinking about accepting GE wheat, which is terrible...I've read on the Greenpeace webpage what genetic modification can do...And I heard once on a local radio station that there's something out there that's been genetically modified out on the market...So now I'm like, "Sh*t, sh*t, SH*T what are they trying to do to us?!" I really don't like it. I'm really concerned... :( :/  I'm also trying to get my parents to make sure not to buy any of the foods listed on the Red list of Greenpeace's Canadian shopping guide. Doesn't seem to be working, though. Must emphasise more.
