bmps are horribly massive in kb size compared to jpgs with not much difference in visual quality. makes the board slow, see?

Actually, all you have to do is open the file in pain or photo editor, click "save as" and change the extension to "jpg" either by choosing it from the list or just by typing ".jpg" at the end of the name of the file. :)
