  3. Well, I have to say that of course this journey idea or the idea of the albums making sense as a whole series is nice, but I just wanted to say that most of the hate for the new albums is not about the themes, but about the sound. Nobody would complain if they had showed their happiness and acceptance of life's beauty etc. with original sounding and off-mainstream soundscapes. But when songs like ETIAW and AOAL and HFTW and actually the entire AHFOD album sound like most of the stuff that is on the radio nowadays, I can understand why fans of the old style are disappointed. Coldplay music used to be very deep and warm and organic, a common criticism is that it sounds very plastic now, which is due to the production making it sound like your average 2010's dancepop song. Happy music need not be dancey and poppy - for example Viva La Vida is one of the most soaring and celebratory songs of all time, but it has an original sound and soundscape and does not have to rely on those disco beats and other Stargatisms. The music is what the criticism is all about, not the themes. :)

  11. OK, here is the next one: "I've got a girlfriend, and this is the sort of song we listen to, you know, running through the flowers. You know it's a bit naff, but it's a great song, so listen to it. Actually it's not naff - actually, sorry about that, I shouldn't put ourselves down !"

  13. This song was the last song on a single, it makes heavy use of Chris's falsetto and ends with an instrumental part.

  19. These are exactly the words which I would describe the shows with. Again, I enjoyed the shows but it does not have anything to do with the band of the same name of the 2000s. MX was pop-rock, this is pure pop/dancepop, for most of the show. The low point (no pun intended ;)) of the show is probably when Chris asks people to get down during AOAL and then jump, because in this moment he is more like a holiday theme park animator than a musician. Also several show elements like Chris falling down into this whirl at the end of VLV are a bit unnecessary and overblown. And when Chris says after Paradise "I don't wanna stop Will, keep going Will" which starts off the remix, it is only cool for someone who does not know this is a pre-planned setlist.... It's also sad to see that Chris has taken to walking around during Fix You instead of actually playing the piano live. The other band members don't seem to have changed that much, but someone needs to remind Chris that he is a musician, not an entertainer/animator. Also, half of the show seems to be made up of pre-recorded tracks or interludes.
