  1. Having seen a very ill and woozy Chris at the China Club in NY nine hours earlier, doubt about this show even being played had entered my mind. Every ounce of doubt, every criticism about the "same setlist" being played every night and every thought of this being a quick, routine performance were assuaged with this show. Immediately following Ashcroft's finale of "Bittersweet Symphony", some brilliant members of this board handed out seemingly thousands of copies of 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of white paper with the words "USA LOVES COLDPLAY". Clearly, this was going to add an element to an otherwise already highly charged atmosphere of high energy. At about 9:30, the most energetic and LOUD "Square One" I've witnessed in the six shows I've caught this tour brought the sell-out crowd into a frenzy. High energy, solid sounding voice (albeit shaky at times), exceptional performance. SETLIST HIGHLIGHTS: 1) Square One 2) Politik - A proper version, no ad-libs, "give me love over" lyric in it's correct place. 3) Yellow - It appeared not a single balloon made it ONTO the stage, unique and noteworthy as they have obstructed the band in the past. 4) Speed of Sound - The Wachovia Center's 360 degree video screens made the visuals for this truly remarkable. 5)What If 6)God Put a Smile Upon Your Face - Here Chris thanked the Doctor from Philadelphia who enabled him to sing and regain his health in order to perform 7) Don't Panic (Johnny sang part of the second verse) 8) White Shadows - Outro featured Jonny & Chris doing their "Brokeback" spooning on the floor 9) The Scientist 10) Til Kingdom Come 11) Ring of Fire 12) Trouble (TKC, ROF & Trouble were all acoustically performed, the piano Will was using malfunctioned, prompting Chris to utter, "Never buy a keyboard from George W. Bush...that's neither an endorsement nor a criticism") 13) Clocks - Standard countdown conclusion 14) Talk - At the end of the song, out came the "USA Loves Coldplay" signs...the boys clearly saw this and I believe were quite appreciative* ----- 15) Swallowed in the Sea - I finally wrote down the order of the tracks that appear on the screen during this song that apparently represents a temporary tracklist for "X&Y" from October 25, 2004. 16)In My Place - Clearly exhausted, Crhis still sprinted out into Section 106 and back onto the stage after being groped profusely. 17) Fix You - Very energetic, and enthusiastic with much passion for the last time this song was played on the US tour...Chris destroyed the light bulb with a huge swing out over the audience. *From my vantage point, it appeared Will took a copy of the sign and tore it, realigning the sign's fragments to read "Coldplay Loves USA"...perhaps it was handwritten...correct me if I'm wrong An extended series of bows and curtain calls met thunderous applause that only got louder as Chris remained on the right side of the staging disrobing. After removing his shirt and shoes, it appeared he began to undo his trousers and then headed off the stage, perhaps the fever he had at noon had returned... After seeing them on 8/7/05, 9/3/05, 9/6/05, 3/25/06, 3/26/06 and now tonight...COLDPLAY has proven (not that they needed to), that no matter what criticism may come their way, they can rise above it. I am truly staggered at this band's ability to pull together despite poor health, exhaustion and over a year's worth of touring to put together a US tour finale like this show. Absolutely Brilliant.
  2. Chris was very ill for the performance with a cold, congestion and throat problems...definitely did NOT want to be there, but bravo to him and Jonny for making a go of it, making us laugh and playing a few songs for the 95 of us that were there. Show started with Chris announcing he was ill, followed by a performance of Til Kingdom Come/Ring of Fire Medley. The host of the show chose me to ask the first question during the first of three Q&A sessions (I had mentioned to her earlier that I'd be following the band to philly this evening) and asked, "Since Jonny has been singing Don't Panic in concert lately, and you're ill Chris, why not have Jonny sing the whole show...yeah, not as witty as I had intended. My question might have been blown off had the very next song not been "Don' Panic" which it was...with Jonny on lead vocals...after a line of the first verse, Chris cut him off and took over. With his voice fading, a pair of very gutsy gals volunteered out of the audience to sing "The Hardest Part" with Chris and Jonny, and they did their best, albeit without a complete grasp of the lyrics and 100 or so fairly supportive COLDPLAY fans eyeing them. A lengthy Q&A took place in which a NEW song was played on the fly...it was rather catchy for a "gag" song, and it was titled "Mariah Carey's Boobs"....you had to be there I guess to get the joke. (The song musically wasn't that bad!) Chris, although ill, kept the humor lively and participated in the five question "Coldplay Trivia" section of the show by giving the answers to five lukcy audience members who all got signed copies of X&Y. Four out of five didn't know the answers to the following: 1. Where did Coldplay meet? 2. X&Y is Coldplays ____album?(#) 3. What band/song inspired "Talk". 4. How many grammy's have Coldplay won? 5. Who played with Coldplay at the 2004 Grammy's. Chris helped them all out, very nice of him... A very fine rendition of "In My Place", the song Chris felt was easiest on him to sing, finished off the show. After a quick bow, he bolted for the door with Jonny in tow. My pics show a very sweaty Chris leaving the stage, perhaps indicative of a fever? I hope not...thus far no word on Coldplay.com about a canceled end to the tour tonight. Not quite China Club 2003, but then again, different band and different circumstances three years later. Setlist: (kind of) 1. Til Kingdom Come 2. Ring of Fire 3. Don't Panic 4. The Hardest Part 5. In My Place Cheers!
  3. Just returned from the show in NYC @ The China Club...Chris is pretty ill (cough,cold,congestion)...but I'm hoping he holds up well for tonight! T-Minus 3 hours!

  6. I searched, but didn't see that anyone had already posted this, so: Group: Brand Nubian Song: Meaning of the 5% http://rapidshare.de/files/6419950/Meaning_of_the_5_.mp3 Album: "In God We Trust (1993)" Enjoy!
  7. Trivial yes, but perhaps an acknowledgement of the recent cancellations? During a large camera pan of the Boston College student crowd this morning on ESPN's "College Gameday", quite a few students were rallying fiercely around a large sign that read "BOWDEN LIKES COLDPLAY". Is this to be interpreted as an insult toward the rival Florida State Head Coach? (In addition, NBC the official network of Notre Dame football, scored their two minute, opening montage of the Fighting Irish to an instrumental of Clocks for their game against Michigan State today, 9/17.)
  8. Thankfully the Floor sections in the rear 8-12 were on an incline so the view wasn't too bad... Energy level was much higher than PNC, but the roof didn't quite "come off" as much as expected during the show (not seeing a lot of singing a long)...still a very tight set, quite a fine performance, perhaps the best in the tri-state area this tour. Setlist: (from my recollection) Square One Politik Yellow God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Speed Of Sound Low A Rush of Blood to the Head Everything's Not Lost White Shadows The Scientist Til Kingdom Come Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash Cover) Green Eyes Clocks Talk Encore: Swallowed In The Sea In My Place Fix You
  9. Tightest show I've seen/heard this tour. From my observations in the very front of the "pit" (row b, sec 103) area: Lowlights: 1) Got busted taping the gig 2) Gwyneth not overly friendly to the early-birds who tried to converse with her after Rilo Kiley. 3) Somewhat standard setlist (since San Diego) w/minimal chat in-between from Chris 4) NJ crowd only seemed "into it" by the time "Clocks" was played Highlights: 1) "What If" as the first encore 2) Politik lyrics: "...tell me what it means." "Give your love to New Orleans" 3. Very few, if any forgotten lyrics during the entire set by Chris. Disappointingly, got a bunch of sh*t cell-phone movies/pics; no high quality aud/vid, so anyone who was successful in getting anything more substantial, please do share!!! Setlist: Square One Politik Yellow God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Speed Of Sound Low A Rush of Blood to the Head Amsterdam White Shadows The Scientist. Til Kingdom Come Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash Cover) Green Eyes Clocks Talk Encore: What If In My Place Fix You

  11. I have a Rapdishare "Premium" account and have noticed that I have not been credited with the promised extensions for my account that are given upon every download of a file that I post. Rapdishare might be crapping out...
  12. Have found the blank-cover version all over. (Picture taken at a Target). No bonus tracks (aside from TKC) or anything else special.
  13. If anyone wants the version that Blooms992000 is referring to PM or email me. (Blooms is also quite accurate about how difficult it is to hear Buckland)
  14. The Full Band Version of Gravity was played live for the final time by Coldplay on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the Carter Holt Pavilion in Auckland, New Zealand. The band returned for a second/third encore after Amsterdam. No known recording has surfaced of this to date. SETLIST: Politik God Put a Smile on Your Face A Rush of Blood to the Head Daylight Trouble One I Love Don't Panic Shiver See You Soon Everything's Not Lost Moses Yellow The Scientist What a Wonderful World Clocks In My Place Amsterdam Gravity

Coldplay Live 2003 DVD's bonus CD has an excellent live version of See You Soon.
  16. Quick question... At the show on June 13th at Madison Square Garden, the Brian Eno song was played prior to the band taking the stage...the song that immediately preceded Politik sounded just a bit different, as it does on the recordings I have from Earl's Court, Lisbon, Atlanta and Pittsburgh... Is it a different song, or is it that they've re-recorded it in a lower-key/pitch than the Eno recording? For any matter, thank you again for tracking down the name of this song. :)
  17. Thank you for finding that, it's greatly appreciated!
  18. I started recording at about yellow onto audiocassette...so I missed In My Place... I'm trying to figure out the easiest way of getting the audio cassette audio into my computer in the first place....any recommendations? If able to I'll convert them over to MP3 or WAV sometime down the road... Did anyone else record the whole show?
  19. Listened to and recorded most of the set @ the China Club in Times Square this past week: wondering what/when the collaboration with Johnny Cash that Christ Martin spoke about will be released. According to Mr. Martin, the band recently "layed their parts down" and are currently waiting for Mr. Cash to complete his part to a song/single(?) entitled "til Kingdom Come" On a side note, it was interesting to hear Mr. Buckland refer to the amount of NEW Coldplay material written during the most recent tours as being enough for a "Triple Album"; although that'll never happen, I know I wouldn't mind... China Club Acoustic Setlist: (correct me if I'm wrong, it was played on radio in this order) - In My Place - Yellow - Don't Panic - The Scientist - Clocks - Amsterdam
  20. Setlist Taken from the Official Coldplay.com website: 1. Politik, 2. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, 3. Rush Of Blood To The Head, 4. Daylight, 5. Trouble (with a snippet of Cher's I Believe at the end, as she'd played there the previous night), 6. One I Love, 7. Don't Panic, 8. Moses, 9. Everything's Not Lost, 10. The World Turns Upside Down, 11. Yellow, 12. The Scientist. Before the break Chris explained about a charity auction which had been taking place raising money for Robin Hood. This New York based organisation had been auctioning celebrity items to raise funds for Schools, Librairies etc. Coldplay had donated singing with them at MSG as a prize. There had been 2 top bids as the original top bidder declined to sing, but still made the donation, with a total of $800,000 raised. The winner was a very brave lady called Christy who joined the guys onstage for an acoustic version of 13. In My Place. Encore #1: 14. Clocks, 15. In My Place (full band version), 16. Amsterdam second encore 17. Lips Like Sugar (Echo & The Bunnymen cover) 18. Life Is For Living.
  21. Brilliant show; incredibly lively and full of energy throughout...with a setlist almost identical to the Toronto show....except with the wonderfully nice surprise of an Acoustic "In My Place" The audience sang along with the a generous young lady who supposedly had donated 350,000(?) dollars to charity for the opportunity to take the stage with Mr. Martin and Co, and give lead vocals to IMP. Otherwise, a vibrant and wonderfully played, uptempo show that continued to showcase both Moses and World Turned Upside Down as "new" material. Questionable as to why so many felt like sitting throughout, but all that were present were richly rewarded with a tremendously energetic and flawlessly performed show.

  24. Short but sweet show it was...well worth the trip down the Turnpike to see hightlights like Moses, Yellow & Scientist.. Going to MSG as well? Hopefully Shiver will return for the NYC crowd.
  25. Multiple concert goers have agreed, song #3 of this night was "Poor Me" and the final song of the evening was Ladder to the Sun.... Looking forward to June 13th like no other! Cheers!
