  1. haha traciemorgan... i think you and i took the same theory classes. and how-to-not-be-a-dick-head classes too. http://www.myspace.com/themodernantiques
  2. yeah "We're not in the key of C#minor at all. It's E major." no. it's in the key of C# minor. E major is its relative major... but i don't think anyone could debate this being a major key. in fact, the only time it hits E is as a passing note in the chorus. it's all C# minor.
  3. ah theory always does have a place because i'd bet... there was some discussion in the studio whether chris should sing the major 2nd or minor 3rd on top of the C# minor. we hear the decision they made.
  4. yeah first off... i agree with the original poster. but i wouldn't label them as "mistakes" - more like intentional laziness. i think it's important to realize that the end of the song is perfectly in tune... which means they could have done that the entire time. but the intentional laziness that you pointed out adds to the dirtiness of the track. i'd like to hear it cleaned up to hear the differences in mood. my guess is they did clean it up but ultimately decided on this outcome. i also think it's funny how many music theory majors all of a sudden pop out of no where. don't fool yourselves, people. music theory ALWAYS has a place in music.
  5. ahhh the got the lyrics from the original version of the song... by joseph arthur. listen to that version if you really want to cry. beautiful landscape... haunting voice... gorgeous production... i'm kind of disappointed that michael stipe and chris martin covered it... the first version was the prettiest it was ever going to get. tyler. http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg
  6. j arth the original by joseph arthur is one of the most gorgeous and haunting songs ever written... i'm actually kinda upset that they covered it 6 different times. it's not the same. tyler. http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg
  7. oh yeah 'let go' was probably the best unknown album of 2003. they just released a new cd "the weight is a gift," a few weeks ago... it's less acoustic - but just as good. good find, tyler http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg
  8. Hey Guys... I just got done mastering my first professionally recorded cd... and I'm really excited for people to hear it. The band consisted of an acoustic guitar... an amazing cellist... a drum set... a piano... and a bass. I think it sounds like Coldplay meets Damien Rice. If this sounds interesting to you... I'd really like to hear what you think! http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg Thanks, Tyler
  9. oh yeah ohhh yes... that looks great - count me in. tyler. http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg
  10. Hey guys... I'm a singer/songwriter who's heavily inspired by Coldplay... and right now I'm working on simple live demos of my songs before I head into the studio with a string quartet and a piano player to record my first record. Since I am inspired by Coldplay... I'd really like to know what Coldplay fans think of the songs... before they dry and it's too late for me to change them. So if you have the time - I'd appreciate any feedback... http://www.myspace.com/tylersonnenberg Bombs and Guns - I wrote this song a few nights ago... it's a love song about using those weapons for celebrating love... not war. I think it's the most Coldplay-ish song I have. More To Say - A gentle song that will open my album This Holiday - A pop song with a hint of gospel feel to it... Opposite the Ground - An upbeat acoustic song with a punk-ish twist Thanks, Tyler
  11. i hear the things that are similar: - piano driven - chord progression (V - IV - IV - I) things that aren't similar: - everything else i've never liked clocks and now i can't stand it - but... i love speed of sound. tyler. http://www.tylerandandy.com
  12. i'm a newb but i'm not new hey guys... i know i am a newbie here... but i am not new to coldplay... just new to their online community. i've been hearing that people have heard new live tracks... and everywhere i have looked... the links have been taken down. i am dying to hear some new coldplay... my dvd is getting thinner... and if anyone could give me some hints on how to find these tracks... i'd greatly appreciate it. i know that 'speed of sound' is floating around and still... i couldn't find it. my email is [email protected] and my aim is thejackdempsie ... if anyone is willing to help! thanks, jack.
