  1. I honestly don't even remember what I was expecting from that teaser. Which is a little bit sad, especially since this has been the first era that I've experienced in full, but I just remember being basically disappointed in the final result. Recently AOAL has started to appeal to me a lot more, for some reason, but it's still a quite mediocre song. I recently found that it was quite similar to Bruno Mars' new 24K Magic - not sonically, but in that's it's trying to be one of those instantly catchy tunes that appeals to everyone and is attempting to match the success of previous, similar songs - in this case, Uptown Funk, but it falls quite short. With AOAL, it's trying to be another huge, happy, all-inclusive, broadly-appealing typical Coldplay smash, aiming to be in the similar vein of something like Paradise, but it just ends up being another mediocre pop song - it's not catchy enough to be extremely popular, and is just overall not as good as their previous songs of this type. Well, with all this talk of looking back at the history of Coldplaying, the band, and just all of us fans in general, it'll be pretty cool and special to look back after a few years and remember this time, and be able to say that we were there. With all of the millions of other people, too. Hey there, future me/us lol.
  2. Aww, this is kinda sad. I really love these kind of places and forums, Coldplaying has been around for basically since the band started. I love reading old posts, comments and everything from years ago, It's just so special to be able to get a look at the band's history over the years, and to see what everything was like back then (even though it wasn't that long ago lol). Especially during X&Y - MX because it seems like it was most active then. When did the site go down?
  3. Wait a second... 32nd time. Are you serious! That must be some kind of record... how I envy you...:awesome:
  4. They did Princess of China instead of Magic and dropped Amazing Day in favour of Christmas Lights (which I certainly didn't mind). They did drop the request song, which was a bit strange, but otherwise I adore the two C-stage songs they did and the tribute to the Jonny and the band for Green Eyes was beautiful. But otherwise they did a full setlist. I'm so fucking glad they did Christmas Lights, what a treat. This show was my first ever Coldplay show and it was the best day of my life. Just because they swapped a few songs around doesn't mean they were bad; the actual show itself was as spectacular as ever, perhaps even better. The atmosphere was fantastic and I certainly don't think it was a bad show.
  5. Damn it! I just spent, like, an hour scrolling through the band's FB to get to it. Well, here's a link anyway: Mobile Link: https://www.facebook.com/coldplay/videos/10156268166655253/ After scrolling through the band's entire FB of over the past year (to the exact day - happy 1st birthday AHFOD!), I just thought it would be nice to post some more things that we can reminisce over. Mobile Link: https://www.facebook.com/coldplay/videos/10156260301440253/ Mobile Link: https://www.facebook.com/coldplay/videos/10156264018290253/ Mobile Link: https://www.facebook.com/coldplay/videos/10156271222645253/ BTW, for some reason the videos above that Sophia M posted say "Video Unavailable", even though when you click on the link below it works. So I'm just posting the direct URL links of stuff cause Idk how to embed or whatever. Edit: Idk what happened with the embeds and stuff, but for some reason, some of them did embed and some of them did. And the ones that did all say "Video Unavailable". Eh. Also, : http://myahfod.coldplay.com/
  6. I'll try and find it now. Do you guys that were on this site when it came out recall any particular threads about the song that I could look at?
  7. Ahhh okay. I see what you mean. I've just tried to find the original teasers of the song, but I can't seem to find the ones that the band posted. All I could find was . Does anyone know where they could be?
  8. Lol who tf said that? I mean, I wasn't on Coldplaying back then, but I certainly wasn't thinking of like that. AOAL is primarily a mainstream pop song, don't why anyone would expect anything different.
  9. Really? Did Parlophone have that much faith in them for 5 full-lengths straight away? Damn. That's pretty cool But do we actually have any proof of them instead of just speculation?
  10. Cool. How do we know, though? In fact, do we know about all of the different contracts they've had with Parlophone and how long each of them went for? Obviously the first would've been for an EP and Album (Blue Room and Parachutes) but do we know about all of the other and how many there were?
  11. Is their contract with Parlophone expiring soon?
  12. This is incredibly sad, so sorry for your loss. I think that it's opportune that it's on this thread - the song relates so well to these types of situations. Even though there will be times where bad things happen to us, when we fail, and when we want to give up, we should always remember not to give up, and always, Don't Let It Break Your Heart.
  13. Yup. I think that this applies with AHFOD, but in different ways, in that some songs I just don't like because they seem so insincere, and other I do like even though they're still straight-up pop songs, which I think a lot of people are quick to dismiss straight away simply because they're pop songs. Idrgaf I just like the songs. But my own personal opinion is and has always been that AHFOD is still pretty disappointing, MX did the whole "pop-rock band going in a completely pop/electronic direction" thing way better, and I honestly love MX and those songs so much.
  14. What I meant to say here is that Coldplays music always makes it onto the radio, and initially I thought that the other person meant that if anything makes it on the radio then it's automatically bad, but I misunderstood. The message was that the band don't necessarily write their music with the radio in mind, which I agree with to an extent. Because lets face it, all musicians will obviously say that they don't write music with the aim of them becoming chart-toppers and radio-hits, and while most of the time the band don't necessarily do that, I think we have to stop pretending and realise that yes, many musicians will do that and the band will have that on their mind from time to time. I don't care if they do that, as long as I like the music that they make. If I don't, then fair enough.
  15. That's why I thought that it was strange. I think the way that you worded it was a bit confusing, but I understand what you mean now.
  16. I think I was referring mainly to when you said that "it's already logical that "good Coldplay" isn't "Coldplay that is meant for the radio"." That implies that anything from them which makes it onto the radio isn't good. But otherwise, I also think that they could shy away from too many additional producers - they're so good when it's just them and maybe someone else, Briano Eno for example, and having too many, like Stargate and Ryan Tedder, might really change things up for the worse. And I don't really mind the production that Stargate did on AHFOD.
  17. No I meant if we got a much shorter one instead of PM style and length. Although, as I said, that sounds extremely greedy. But as I think about it now, while PM style and length would be nice, I'd actually like to see them change it up a bit and maybe give us something that's different. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, though. Yeah that interview was from the 6th of August, I still remember listening to it then. How the time flies, we're even gonna be reminiscing over right now in a few years, just as we do over years ago and other eras. AHHH I wish I could've experienced the MX era... Noooop. Let's not be hipsters and pretend that music is only good when it's not successful. Coldplays music is practically synonymous with radio-friendly and I certainly regard many of the bands radio-hits as good Coldplay. Especially MX, imo, since many people jump at the chance of bagging out MX and that era. While I'm not saying that all of their music is good and that all of their popular hits are good (looking your way, HFTW) Coldplay, and especially good Coldplay, while not necessarily being specifically made by the band to be hits, is destined for the radio. When does he hint at Global Citizen India? I cbf to listen to it now lol.
  18. A few months ago, Chris mentioned in this interview around 4 minutes that they're making an app and something to do with a new song (probably something off of the EP). Excited to find out what it is!
  19. Some random Twitter fan account claimed without a source that it would be coming out before the end of this year, but I'm pretty sure they said (Will I think?) that it would be out sometime around the start of next year. I definitely agree (and certainly hope!) that it's going to have more than two new songs on it, if it had two or less that would suck so haaaaard. I'm also hoping that the band doesn't screw us over here (that sounds kinda selfish and overindulgent, though) and gives us a small EP, as in a three/four-track "EP", instead of PM length/style. Although, judging by the way that they "announced" it and the time that they're taking/have taken to make it, that's thankfully most likely not going to be the case. Overall, though, I have a pretty good feeling about this EP, and I think that that's the general consensus so far (with what little information we have). I mean, with AHFOD, I know that myself and many others were quite apprehensive after learning the name of the album, let alone all of the other info that gradually came. According to the general (and my own personal) consensus, we were partly right, but I think that in this case, we're much more hopeful, and that's probably because here the possibilities are almost endless. I'm just really excited for what's to come and can't wait to see everything else (like the app) that will be coming from CP in 2017 and onwards!
  20. Hmmm, I was initially thinking that it would almost definitely be on the EP since I thought that they might have been releasing it sooner, but since it might be a good 2-5 months maybe not.
  21. Brilliant
  22. That would be pretty cool, we also know that they'll be on the Graham Norton Show on the 11th this month performing Everglow. I remember some article or something from a little earlier this year in which the venue where the video was being filmed was asking for volunteers to be in the video in some German arena or something, I can't exactly remember what/where it was, though.
  23. Mine: 1. AROBTTH 2. Mylo Xyloto 3. Parachutes 4. X&Y 5. VLVODAAHF 6. Ghost Stories 7. AHFOD IMO, AHFOD is unfortunately the first album where there is a noticeable drop in quality, which is obviously the general consensus among many fans.
  24. Damn, anyone else?
  25. New Coldplaying member here (signed up about a week ago), and as an avid fan of the band I have spent yet another day scouring the internet through Coldplay-related sites and have just read through probably the last 30 or so pages of this whole thread, through comments dating quite a few years back. OOFT. Some of these collections are insane. Does anyone who's watching this thread know if the user @No1CPfan has created his store that he said he was going to create with his incredible amount of Coldplay releases and items? I'm mainly asking @Major Cooper since it seems they had been active on this thread while No1CPfan was still active on it, too. I would love to buy something from them in an effort to further my current pathetic, tiny collection. A bit off of the topic of collections, but I would just like to say how cool I think it is to be able to dig through all of these old forums and fan-sites from the past, holy crap, almost 20 years of the band's history and always find something new, something interesting all about Coldplay and look at how the band and their fans have evolved over this time. This sounds quite sappy, and this is also probably a cringey choice of word/s, but it's kind of historical (I know, cringey...) to read through all of these different people's comments years into the future after they've initially been submitted and see what the CP scene was like, to wonder what all these people are doing now since a lot of people are inactive now and many simply forget about these types of websites and their accounts. It's just really cool and I think it really says something for modern music and fan culture, and I just wanna thank people and fellow fans who all create and contribute to these online spaces for each other. And if there's anyone a few years into the future who is doing exactly what I've been doing now and reading through these comments in this and other thread/s, then I'd like to say hey there, wonder what's happening now/then and if I'll still be on here, or even a fan of the band (pretty certain that I will be). I just want to let people know how these communities are appreciated and how they're kinda significant in the history of the band and the fans. Leeeeeeeeel
