And if anyone dares post their answer in the thread, it'll be death by tinsel!! :D what do you mean? answers are pre-determined, compiled from the people surveyed :D Ian wrote that question :P basically its online media who hate Coldplay, or gave a very good impression of it. Hope that helps
  7. Please don't answer in this thread. PM your answers to Jenjie by 23:59h GMT on New Year's Eve (31st December). I'll then announce the winners & give you the correct answers on the 1st January. DID WE FORGET TO MENTION THERE'S A PRIZE? You can win a copy of IQ Magazine with its Coldplay tour special. This year we've decided to do things a little differently. Instead of the usual "see how fast you can search Google and PM the answers to Jen" Quiz, we decided to really test you!! Not sure how many of you know the quiz show "Family Fortunes" but that's the format of the quiz. For those of you who don't know, this is how it works. We asked some very random people to give us 5 answers to each of 10 questions, and we've selected the top 5 answers. Your job is to guess what those 5 top answers are. The top answer is not necessarily the most obvious! You need to guess which is the top answer (2 points) and then the other 4 answers (1 point for each correct answer). You will also get a bonus 4 points if you get all 5 answers including the top answer correctly. For those of you who are still lost, here's 2 sample question: Sample 1: Name the Top 5 premier league football teams in the UK. My answer would be: Top: Manchester United. Other 4: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal. The surveyed people's result was: Liverpool (Top answer), Chelsea, Aston Villa, Man Utd, & Arsenal. So I get 4 points for that question because I correctly guessed 4 of the teams Sample 2: Name the Top 5 Premiership Rugby teams in the UK. My answer is: Top: London Irish. Other 4: Bath, Gloucester, Leicester & Sale. The survey result is London Irish (Top answer), Bath, Sale, Leicester & Gloucester. So i get the full 10 points. 2 points for correctly guessing the top answer. 1 point each for the other 4 teams, and the bonus points for them all being in the right order. so if you're ready, here's your questions: ....................................................................... 1) Name the Top 5 people associated with Coldplay (not including band members) Top: Other 4: 2) Name the Top 5 Coldplay songs beginning with 'S' Top: Other 4: 3) Name the Top 5 online media haters (Sources, not individuals) Top: Other 4: 4) Name the Top 5 cities Coldplay are likely to tour. Top: Other 4: 5) Name the Top 5 Coldplay "Influences" Top: Other 4: 6) Name the Top 5 Coldplay "freebies" Top: Other 4: 7) Name the Top 5 people who wouldn't be seen dead attending a Coldplay gig. Top: Other 4: 8) Name the Top 5 people you would not be surprised to see at a Coldplay gig (not including the four band members!) Top: Other 4: 9) Name the Top 5 bands least likely to support Coldplay Top: Other 4: 10) Name the top 5 festival venues that Coldplay might play. Top: Other 4: Please don't answer in this thread. 13. Photos: Coldplay, The O2, Dublin With just a couple of days to Christmas, Coldplay became one of the first bands to play Dublin’s newly revamped Point Depot. The venue’s rechristening under the corporate banner of the O2 should have been a sign that Coldplay too, are now a huge corporate entity. Having easily sold out two nights in the O2 and with a huge outdoor summer show coming to the capital in 2009, tickets are being touted outside for well over €100 as fans made the long walk down the quays in the drizzling December rain. We had wanted to bring you a review of the bands performance, lots of audience feedback on the gig and the new venue but sadly, corporate PR companies got in the way. Coldplay are at a stage where they are worth so much money that they have people who enforce rules on the way the media can report their shows. The photographers were ushered into an area, no more than 10 foot by three foot, about 100 metres from the centre of the stage. We could photograph songs 2, 3 and 4 only. Coldplay’s PR company made us sign contracts to hand over all copyright of the pictures to them to exploit as they wish. Not really the sign of a band who are looking for attention at a time when most bands need as much press coverage as possible to survive in a troubled financial time. After the three songs we were escorted out of the venue and as for what the remainder of the show was like you’ll need to do the review for us in the comments below as we weren’t allowed back in to see for ourselves. Enjoy the few pictures that we have for you and let us know what you thought of the shows on Sunday & Monday. http://www.state.ie/blog/photos-coldplay-the-o2-dublin/
  14. Well, its not Christmas Day or Boxing Day!!! GMG goes for star studded Christmas with Ricky Gervais, Tom Jones, Coldplay and Barry Manilow GMG Radio will be having some very impressive guests over at its place this Christmas… and there’s not a turkey amongst them*. The group, which has just won the UK’s last analogue FM licence, will be networking its shows for Christmas and Boxing Day and has chosen a raft of celebrities to steer the channels for them. Christmas day on Smooth will see two hours of Tom Jones picking his festive favourites, followed by a show from Ricky Gervais and a specially recorded programme from Barry Manilow in the evening. Switch over to the group’s Century brand in the North West and you can party with Boyzone in the morning (a long running dream of ours, Ed), before spending Christmas afternoon with The Feeling and the evening in the company of Leona Lewis. And there’s more to unwrap on Boxing Day… Mick Hucknall will be Smooth’s star attraction for a two hour Simply Red special in the morning, with the evening being headlined by Andrew Lloyd Webber in conversation with Josh Groban. Coldplay will also be presenting a one-hour show on Century focusing on their career to date. http://www.how-do.co.uk/north-west-media-news/north-west-broadcasting/gmg-goes-for-star-studded-christmas-with-ricky-gervais,-tom-jones,-coldplay-and-barry-manilow-200812154267/
  15. Join us over the festive period for Christmas with the stars. We'll have specials from The Feeling, Boyzone, Coldplay, Leona Lewis and more Coldplay Join Coldplay this Christmas for a one hour special looking back at their career to date You'll probably already know that Coldplay's frontman, Chris Martin, is married to the popular actress Gwyneth Paltrow and that they named their first child Apple. You'll probably also remember their music video for the track Yellow, in which Chris was seen walking soaked along a very cold looking beach, filmed in one continuous shot. But this Christmas you'll be able to hear all about the band and their career to date as they present a one hour Christmas special for us! The band all met at University College London back in 1996. Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland were the first two to decide to start a band. Later they were joined by classmate Guy Berryman and Chris' old school mate Phil Harvey. And, despite having no previous experience, Will Champion, a pianist, guitarist and tin whistle player, took on the role of drummer and learnt the new instrument very quickly. The band originally signed to independent label, Fierce Panda and released an EP but after finishing their final exams they secured a five album deal with Parlophone. They released three EPs without scoring a hit before the track, Shiver made it into the top 40. But it was Yellow that proved to be their breakthrough song, reaching number four in the charts. Facts you may or may not know about Coldplay Coldplay support many social and political causes, such as Oxfam's Make Trade Fair and Amnesty International. They have performed at many charity gigs, including Band Aid 20 and Live 8 and for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland's first musical project was called Pectoralz Johhny Buckland made a cameo appearance in the 'rom zom com', Shaun Of The Dead. He played a supporter of the fictional charity, ZombAid. Chris Martin made a cameo appearance in the second series of the hit comedy, Extras On April 1, 2006 The Guardian reported Chris Martin was a supporter of David Cameron and the Conservative Party and had written a song for the party called Talk To David. It was later revealed to be an April Fool's Day joke. The video to the track Yellow was made with one single continuous shot, we don't know how many times it took for them to get it right though!
