  9. look out the window :P I can help :D Had a look at my fave place (Travel Lodge), and if you want out of the City Centre, there's Manchester Didsbury. Its £51 a night at the mo, with free parking. Its next to the Cineworld cinema, and by default pizza hut, Frankie & Benny's, Chicquitos, Nandos & Burger King. Bus from there is about 15 mins into city centre, and I think you can get a bus from there to withing walking distance of LCCC. If you fancy something a little more original: there's the Normanhurst hotel. Its in Sale, about 15 mins walk from Brooklands tram stop, and the tram is about 10/15 mins from there to LCCC, 15/20 mins into town. Room prices B&B start from £45, and it is a very nice breakfast :D (had my first breakfast as a married woman there :), and we stayed there after my sister's wedding too). And its free parking again. On Late Rooms, all the hotels around LCCC seem to be full already. still looking at other options :D
  10. well, now we know who is paying for the makeover!!! Take That & Coldplay :laugh3:
  11. hmmmmmmm seeing comparison like that, cost of texts $30, value of texts $2900, for the mobile companies to be able to sustain it, they must be making a nice profit on the contracts. and if not, they aren't going to be able to let people keep racking up those amounts of texts.
  12. Watch out Wembley, Jen & Ian just decided to stay the night :D If anyone else was looking at staying, we got an alright deal with travel lodge, and they still had rooms on the saver deal when we booked a couple of hours ago. Its £50 for a double or twin room for a night, £5 per day to park there, £10 early check-in (to check in before 3pm). Its also only 2 miles from the Stadium, so depending on how rough the area, it'll be walkable. Has a tube nearby for those who prefer. http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/saver_search.php?search=&action=search&saverSearchType=specificDate&checkInDate=18%2F09%2F2009&nightsstay=1&locpostText=wembley

  16. Classical imagery is the newest idea in album cover design, judging by the winners of this year's Best Art Vinyl award. The winner and the third placed entry are both adaptions of well known paintings, both centuries old, while in second place there is an original work that is designed to look like an adapted classical bust. The winners were announced after 3,000 people voted in an annual competition organised by the company Art Vinyl, which compiled a shortlist of 50 new album covers from 2008. Newcomers Fleet Foxes, a five-member indie rock group from Seattle, took first prize for the cover of their eponymous debut album. If the image seems familiar, it is because it is 450 years old this year. It is the central portion of Netherlandish Proverbs, painted in 1559 by the Flemish master Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The front of Slime and Reason, the new album by the south London rapper Roots Manuva, also has a familiar look, although it is original. It is an image of the singer himself with skull opened, brain scooped out, and the cavity filled with green slime. The pose, however, appears to have been consciously modelled on classical busts. Coldplay have used a 178-year-old painting for the cover of their album Viva La Vida, which was placed third. They reproduced Liberty Leading the People, painted by the 19th-century Romantic artist Eugene Delacroix. Andrew Heeps, Art Vinyl's director, said: "The Best Art Vinyl award has very much celebrated the work of new emerging artists and graphic designers, so this year it has been a real surprise to see how some past artistic works have proven to be so popular." The covers will be on display at the Rough Trade East gallery in London this month, and in other galleries across the country until 18 February. The top 20: Old beats new 1. 17. Fearne Cotton to unveil Brit Award nominees DJ Fearne Cotton has been chosen to announce the nominations for this year's Brit awards, organisers said today. Nominees will be unveiled at an event hosted by the Radio 1 Chart Show DJ on January 20 at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London. It is the first big music industry party of the year ahead of the Brit awards next month, the most important event in the British music calendar. Coldplay are expected to be up for awards this year after success with their fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends. Music at the nominations will be provided by this year's Brit critics' choice award winner, Florence And The Machine. It was announced last month that she had scooped the award, which focuses on new British acts tipped to break through next year, and is open to artists signed to a label with debut albums in 2009. Last year's winner, Adele, went on to sell 1.2 million copies of her first album, 19. Florence And The Machine is the recording name of south London's Florence Welch. Australian singer-songwriter Gabriella Cilmi and London-based indie band Scouting For Girls will also be performing on the night. Last year's big winners at the Brits were Take That, who scooped best live act and best British single. Arctic Monkeys also enjoyed success in 2008 with best British group and best British album in an evening that saw Sir Paul McCartney honoured for his outstanding contribution to music. Ged Doherty, chairman of The Brits Committee, said: "The nominations launch party has firmly established itself as a major night for music in its own right. "It's a great platform for Florence And The Machine to show why she has won the critics' choice award this year, while the presence of Gabriella Cilmi and Scouting For Girls will ensure a vibrant and exciting night for all." Once the nominations for the 11 awards have been announced pop fans can then vote for their favourite British single, live act and breakthrough act from the shortlists. The best British single is finally decided on the night by a live telephone vote. The Brits Academy, made up of 1,000 invited music industry insiders and critics, decide on the remaining eight awards. The Brit awards take place on February 18 at London's Earls Court and will be broadcast live on ITV1. They will see the Pet Shop Boys pick up an award for their outstanding contribution to music. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/brit_awards/article5449845.ece

  19. you're averaging 60 posts a day and the majority of it is drivel. please god, you're going back to school tomorrow and won't have the time to post anymore.
  20. Jenjie replied to busybeeburns's topic in The Lounge
My thread is not going to die again.
  21. vote for all the other pics as well, because you can boost Guy/Chris score by giving others low scores which affects their averages
  22. yay the Oracle's back from their holiday :D
