  1. Google blacklists entire internet Glitch causes world's most popular search engine to classify all web pages as dangerous Google placed the internet on a blacklist today after a mistake caused every site in the search engine's result pages to be marked as potentially harmful and dangerous. The problem affected internet pages across the whole planet, and lasted for around 40 minutes before engineeers were able to fix it. The glitch centred on Google's malware detector, which is designed to keep internet users from visiting sites Google believes may install malicious software when users browse them. Google blamed "human error" when an engineer tried to add one web address to the list of those deemed suspicious, and mistakenly added them all. "We periodically receive updates to that list and received one such update to release on the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file," Google said in its official blog. The incident occurred at around 2.40pm. Apart from lost advertising revenue – which one expert estimated at $2-3m (£1.4-2m) – the incident is embarrassing for the world's most popular search engine, known for its reliability. Users across the globe were puzzled as all searches were met with the warning: "This site may harm your computer." A spokesman for Google said: "A lot of people were woken up in California when the problem broke. Clearly Google was labelling every website as malware." Google's paid search results appeared not to have been affected. 2. This weekend has been an adventure already, and its only Saturday tea-time!! I would like to share with you, the Coldplaying Road Trip!! Having managed to secure the Friday off work, we booked two nights at the Wembley Travel Lodge, and sat back to wait for the 29th to roll around! Thursday 29th Jan On Thursday, it was a mad dash home from work when I finished at 5pm, to get changed. I also had to throw the last minute bits & pieces into my bag. The important things like outift, make-up bag, and camera were already packed, but I needed to add toothbrush, hairbursh etc. About 18:15, we had loaded the car and set off. Ian had the Edith Bowman session with Chris on CD, so once we hit the motorway we stuck that on the radio, and laughed the miles away. It was a fairly uneventful trip down. The roads were reasonably quiet, it was dark, and it was cold. We stopped at the services at Warwick for a toilet break. Ian is the king of picnics, and when we got back to the car he produced the picnic bag :D After a luvverly snack of ham & pickle butties, hard-boiled egg, rhubarb yoghurt and a cup of coffee, we headed off again. About 4 hours after we set off from Manchester, we rolled up at the Wembley Travel Lodge. We'd picked on them because a) they had saver rooms left; b) they had reasonably priced parking; c) they were outside the congestion zone; d) they were on the Bakerloo line, which connected to Piccadilly Circus without having to change tubes; d) we're staying there in Sept & it gave us a chance to check out the area. We checked in, and headed up to our room on the 5th floor. A quick text to Mich to share some excitement, and then we headed for bed. No way I was going to be tired on Friday. Fri 30th Jan We knew we wanted to be up reasonably early, as we had to head into London and get breakfast. Whilst Ian had a shower, I had a quick peek out of the window, and it looked like the weather was on our side! The view from the Travel Lodge - Park Royal Once we were ready, we headed out and walked down the road to Stonebridge Park tube station. The nice lady at the ticket office kindly didn't rip us off when we asked for an anytime day ticket @ £8.60 each. She very patiently explained to us that there is only 1 peak period, which is before 09:30am, and that we only needed the £6.30 off-peak ticket. Having walked up the stairs, we were in luck and, there was a tube train ready and waiting for us. 30 mins on the Bakerloo line and we were at Piccadilly Circus. We headed to Leicester Square to grab a Burger King breakfast, because we had meal deal vouchers. As we walked to Leicester Square, someone handed us a promotional flyer for the Sports Cafe at Haymarket. We had our breakfast and decided what to do next. We didn't need to be at Absolute til 13:15, so had a couple of hours to be tourists. Ian decided he wanted to check out the National Gallery so we walked down Charing Cross Road towards Trafalgar Square. The National Gallery was so cool. We just walked through a little bit of it, and managed to find the rooms with some of my favourite artists in them. I absolutely love Monet, and its the first time I've ever seen any of his paintings other than in books. Also saw some Degas, Van Gogh, Constable, Turner, and some Italians. The Gallery itself is very impressive. At one point we walked under a domed, windowed roof, which had beautiful carving & paintork on it. It was very over-whelming. After the Gallery, we headed back out into Trafalgar Square. We stopped at the top of the steps to take some pictures of Nelson's column & the square. Trafalgar Square from the National Gallery Nelson's Column As we came down the steps, there was a guy on the pavement doing chalk drawings, he suddenly got up and started shouting. It turned out that someone had come up and taken a picture of him drawing, and he was very angry that they hadn't asked if he minded. We walked down towards the fountains, and took a few pictures. One of the Trafalgar Square fountains We went for a walk down Whitehall because I wanted a look at Downing Street. Last time I'd been down to London near Downing Street, there had been people coming & going through the gates and I couldn't really stop to look. Before we hit the police gates, we walked past Horse Guards, and stopped to take some pics. The soldiers weren't in their usual standing places because of roadworks outside, so we walked into the yard. It still amazes me that people & horses can stand so still and ignore everything around them. Horse Guards We didn't really stop at Downing Street in the end, as there were roadworks, and half the buildings had scaffolding up. I persuaded Ian to walk a bit further down the road towards the Houses of Parliament. I had an ulterior motive. I knew that, in the grounds of Westminster Abbey, we would find the church that my great-grandparents were married in 108 years ago, and I wanted some pictures. St Margaret's, Westminster. To the right of the church tower you can see a bit of Westminster Abbey. We decided to head back up in the general direction of Absolute Radio then, as we weren't sure how easy it would be to find Golden Square. We got the tube at Westminster, took the Jubilee line to Green Park, and then changed for the Piccadilly line to Piccadilly Circus. We walked up and found Golden Square pretty easily. I spotted the radio station, and Ian spotted a few people hanging round outside with cameras. We had around an hour til we were due at the radio station so we found a bench in the square, and sat to enjoy the sunshine for a bit. I texted Mich, and we sat and watched the paparrazzi for a bit. There was lots of activity around the Square. There were people stood outside buildings & sat on the benches having a quick cigarette. Plenty of couriers whizzed past on their motorcycles. And there was a group of people taking photos of a woman walking through the square. She looked to be some sort of model and was tottering on impossibly high heels, practically falling over as she did. They had some changes of shoes with them as well. As we started to feel cold, we went for a walk up the street, and I grabbed a hot chocolate from Greggs. We stood outside, with the growing crowd, and observed all the activity immediately outside the radio station. At about 13:10ish the crowds started to go in, so we headed in with them. Waiting outside to see Chris arrive wasn't an option. We wanted to see him perform, not walk down the road. We stood in reception with the rest of the people, and saw Chris walk through on his way in, with Phil following behind him. We stood around in reception for a while, whilst they did what ever they were doing upstairs. I won't repeat the Zoo Session bit here, as you can find it in this thread. There are about 3 or 4 posts with info from the sessions. Needless to say it was absolutely awesome, and I'm still on a high. When we came out of the radio station, there were still people hanging around waiting for a glimpse of Chris. We decided this would be a good point to get something to eat, so we headed off for the Sports Cafe to see if there buy one get one free offer was any use. It was so we had burger & chips and a drink. The restaurant bit was cool, we were in a booth and you had your own tv screen, which you could flick through to whichever sports channel you wanted. There was also a dimmer switch so you could set the light in your booth as you liked. I had a Mushroom Swiss burger which was lovley. I don't think I've had melted Emmental on a burger before and it was delicious. Once we'd demolished the burgers, we decided to head back to the travel lodge as we were both tired, but we also wanted to be back in time to listen to the Steve Lamacq show. More to follow :D
  3. okay, update: Ian reckons its not him, and that he's actually hidden behind the cameraman. I'm sure he was closer to me than that though :\ sooooooo it appears I couldn't find my own husband in a line-up :laugh3: :embarassed: will have to wait til Mon and see if we get any pics from the cameraman on the other side
  4. Just in case anyone was wondering: I was sure I was well-hidden from the cameras  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :laugh3:
  5. We tested out the Wembley Travel Lodge the last 2 nights. Its reasonably easy to get to, but there isn't a huge amount of parking. Looks like could be difficult if the hotel is full. Room was ok, standard travel lodge room. The double-glazing was ace. You could hardly hear the traffic on the main road outside. I wouldn't have known it looked like this from the window last night if I hadn't looked outside. Its 10 mins walk from there to Stonebridge Park tube station, and then one stop to Wembley Central, with what looks to be a 10/15 min walk at the other end. Alternatively, looks like you could walk from the travel lodge to the stadium in about 40mins.
  6. Okay, so I'm home. At Absolute, Phil was wearing the blue jeans, and a grey tshirt. the scarff is a long checked one. could have been black & white or grey & white. Ian found this pic on FLickr: Phil was stood where the person who took this photo was stood, for most of the recording. The scarf on the counter at the bottom of the pic looks like the one Phil was wearing, and he was carrying a can if Diet Coke when we went into the studio. Ian took some photos which may have Phil somewhere in them, from what I remember they were a bit blurry, but I'll raid the laptop later and see if there's anything at all that we can salvage.
  7. OMG!! don't go giving people ideas when there's still 8 months to plan these things. stage invasion by invite  think I may abstain, I've seen sopme of those fellas that work for the Met that'll also give them time to rehearse repelling invaders :P
  8. I didn't hear him, but then they timed it so we arrived home in between VLV & LITii so I missed bits
  9. Jen and ian are on a road trip! Currently on the m40 somewhere near oxford. Near impossible posting from my mobile so we'll be joining the listening party but not posting.
  10. muhahahahahahahah I have wrestled the laptop back from Ian  whilst listening to Chris on Radio 6, I have been trying to think of things that I might have missed in the review. I've come up with a few random observations: * Chris was wearing the Viva jacket, but it was way more vibrantly coloured than it seems in the media, or even from a distance at a concert. the coloured arm bands really stood out. he also had a white band on his right arm with a message about Obama on it (sorry, I'm rubbish and can't remember what it said :( ) * we got a black plastic wristband when we went in. I don't want to take it off yet but couldn't even if I wanted to!! Having fiddled with it, its going to be a scissors job and I don't have any in London with me. Have just spent a fun 5 mins trying to take a photo of my right wrist (with the logo the right way up) using my left hand!!! * the sound quality in the studio itself is completely different. hearing LIT2 on Radio 6 just brought back the difference to me. in the studio its a lot more raw feeling. I was also intrigued by how quiet it was when Chris was playing. it was so still, you literally could have heard a pin drop! * thought I might as well describe the Zoo studio to you to try and give you an idea of how cozy it was! its a rectangular room, which is split pretty much in half. the back wall was black, with a door in it. this is the door Chris came out of in the webcast. on the left wall (as you're facing the back), is a screen which had the Absolute logo on it for most of the recording. on the right wall is a kind of screened off area, which is where Phil & Ben were during the recording. In the middle of that was the piano where Chris played. that's the back half of the room. You've then got a divide created by the camera peeps. there was one camera man in the middle with a camera on the stand (you might have seen him in the front of the pic that is allegedly me!!). to the left was a camera man with a portable camera. He was taking footage of Chris whilst he was playing, and then kept turning round to take shot of the crowd cheering & applauding (its his fault we were spotted :P). there was another guy to the left doing the same thing, and then there was a woman sat on the floor near Ian's feet with a camcorder. Behind this were crammed in about 40/50 people (the audience!!). It was very cozy & very warm, and very fun :D * As Chris came into reception, there was someone following him with a camcorder. I don't remember seeing that person in the camera crew in the studio. * I also have to share the reception area with you because its pretty cool. the front wall is glass and looks out onto the street. one of the side walls has the most amazing wallpaper!! its black with a bright pastel pattern on it. (I want some for my house, its so funky!). The other interesting thing was a big screen they had in reception. Its basically flicking through pages about the radio station. so there's a page with stats about Absolute, like how many people are listening online; a page which shows what's on the front page of the website; a page showing you the webcams (which is how we knew Ben was definitely in the building, and kept an eye out for him ); and most importantly a page about the Absolute VIPS. For those of you who haven't taken a trip to the Absolute website yet, if you sign up to Absolute you become a VIP, and you get emails teling you about various things coming up, you can blog, and you can make VIP friends, update your status etc. the reason the page in reception caught my eye was because it was showing updates of what the VIPS were upto. on the left side is a list of recently updated blogs, and on the right it was showing updated statuses, and who had just made friends etc.
  11. oooh can't believe I forgot!! Chris explained that he is out and about on his own because Brian Eno wrote & only agreed to record with them again if Chris was banned from the studio for a fortnight. He got Phil to confim it! Oh, and only just seen that Postcards were delivered, so wouldn't have known to say anything if we had the chance. Handing laptop back to Ian now. cya soon guys
  12. So, Part 2!! Chris is hidden in a little room at the back of the studio. Christian O'Connell comes out to advise that we will shortly be linking live to the studio for part of the webcast. The radio comes over the speakers so we can hear the link. And you saw the next bit!! Chris came out, some banter, and then Viva La Vida. Whilst Ian & I drove to London last night, we lsitened to a recoding of yesterday's Edith Bowman show. That acoustic Viva La Vida was great, but actually being there in the room whilst it was played today was absolutely something else. I don't actually have the vocabulary to describe it right now. Amazing doesn't begin to describe it. Once we got rid of all you eavesdropping radio listeners :p Chris played some more. There was some banter with a guy in the audience. Chris & Phil were checking we could hear, and some bright spark responded with "pardon?". Chris made him come to the front, and chatted to him for a few secs, found out he was also called Chris, before asking what song he should play. Someone near the back shouted "Strawberry Swing" and Ian shouted "Warning Sign". Chris said he wasn't asking anyone else, just the other Chris, who then requested The Scientist. Its one of my fav songs off AROBTTH, and again was superb!! There was none of the Take That at the end though :( I would say I was gutted, but that's a bit harsh seeing as though it was the most amazing experience, so a little bit disappointed will have to do. Chris switched to the guitar for Violet Hill, and moved over to the other side of the room. I could actually see him much better because he was stood up, and there was no longer camera wires in my eyeline!! Loved it again. LIT2 fitted in on the piano somewhere in the above. Somewhere between Piccadilly Circus & Wembley things have merged together a bit. After that, they finished recording the live songs. Chris returned into the little room at the back. Half the room emptied, but we hung around a little to see what was happening. We saw Ben so stopped him & said hi. Watched Hoppy & Phil walking around, and then Chris came back out. At this point they started clearing the room of everyone who didn't need to be there so they could record the interview with Chris. All in all, its been a really cool day. I've been in the same room as Chris, Phil, Hoppy & Ben :D Hoppy has touched my arm (as he moved past through the audience to grab something, he brushed past because it was very, very full in there!) I've shaken Ben's hand. Any random shreds of info that I've stored in my head about Phil will be posted in the Phil thread later. If I think of anything else whilst we're listening to Radio 6 on the laptop, I'll post it when we get back to Manchester.
  13. Soooooooo where to start? I've been mega excited for days now. Not just because I was going to be in the same room as Chris, but because we were going to see how this recording lark works! Understandably, we didn't want to be late. We weren't too sure how long it would take us to walk to Absolute, so after breakfast and quick trips to Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery (I saw real Monet!!!!!!!), Downing Street & Westminster Abbey we hit the tube again and headed for the radio. We must have got to the square around 12ish, and there were already a few paparazzi hanging around. We went and sat on a bench in the square for a bit, and watched the paparazzi. We also saw Hoppy unloading stuff from a blue van with blacked out windows. As we started to feel cold, we went for a wlak up the street, and I grabbed a hot chocolate from Greggs. We stood outside, with the growing crowd, and observed all the activity. Eventually they let us upstairs to the Zoo studio. Ian had managed to get us a space near the door, so were in the first few people heading upstairs. Ian ended up front row next to the camera man, and I was slightly to his left behind the camera man and someone else. We could see Phil stood near the back of the studio in the side, at what seemed to be some sort of control desk. Hoppy was on the floor sorting out the guitar, & piano. Part 2 to follow........

  18. they're very wrong, as are the lime flavoured ones how can anyone not appreciate a jaffa cake, whether they have stacks of them or not? they are the king of biscuits. and as you're deprived of them, now is probably not the time to mention jaffa cake muffins.
  19. Is it just me or did jonathan seem to be on his best behaviour last night? I only saw the Stephen Fry & Tom Cruise interviews, but Jonathan seemed to be a little bit more respectful and less crude & disgusting. Before the time-out, there was usually some point where I would cringe at what he was saying, but there was none of that last night.
  20. god i love the oracle :D and the answer is yes & no. roadie #42 - Jen; buttcracks - the Angie
