UPDATE: 3RD APRIL 2009: Scranton, PA show cancelled April 3, 2009 10.00 pm May 29th show cancelled due to scheduling conflict Good evening. Unfortunately, Coldplay's show on Friday, May 29th at Toyota Pavilion in Scranton, PA has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. Refunds will be available at point-of-purchase. The band are performing at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, PA on Sunday, May 24th, and the promoters are making excellent seats available to that show for fans who purchased tickets to the Scranton date. Upon refund at point of purchase, fans who purchased Scranton tickets will receive a password to purchase these specially-allocated tickets. New Information Regarding Rescheduled Date: Saratoga Springs / Jones Beach shows news May 29, 2009 7:45 pm This week's postponed gig is rescheduled We're pleased to confirm that Coldplay's scheduled show at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York on May 27th -which was postponed because of illness - has now been rescheduled for July 27th. However, in order to reschedule the Saratoga Springs concert, the Jones Beach show announced earlier this week will unfortunately not now take place. Tickets for the original Saratoga Performing Arts Center date on May 27th will be valid at the rescheduled date on July 27th, with refunds available from point of purchase. Some tickets for the Saratoga Springs show will also be available at www.livenation.com. Tickets for the Jones Beach show never went on sale. For anyone looking for another alternative show nearby, Coldplay are also playing at All Points West festival in New Jersey on August 2nd. We're really sorry for any inconvenience this causes. The FBI have revealed they have a million people on their 'watch and stop' list for terror suspects. People on the list are stopped from flying into America or subjected to intense questioning at border crossings before being allowed entry into the country. The list has been compiled by the FBI's terrorist screening centre in Washington. It was started after the 9/11 terror attacks and has been subject to much criticism after children with the same names as terror suspects found themselves marked down as potential threats to security. About 95 per cent on those on the list are non-US citizens, but the FBI have not revealed how many are from the UK. But with the most recent terror threats to the U.S. originating in Britain the American government recently imposed new restrictions on visitors. Travellers flying to the U.S. from the UK now have to complete an advance notice of flying and supply their passport details in advance. Visitors also have to tell US authorities where they will be staying and for what length of time. The form can only be completed online and must be filed at least two weeks prior to travel. The information is analysed by the Department of Homeland security and if a match is found with the FBI list visitors are either stopped from flying or forced to go through extra security at check-in. As many as 40,000 people a year are added to the list. U.S. officials admit many of those in the FBI data bank have multiple aliases. Former South African president and Nobel prize winner Nelson Mandela was on the list due to his classification as a terror suspect in the 1960s. He was removed after former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice described the situation as 'embarrassing'. In the last two years more than 50,000 people have filed 'redress' claims against having their names wrongly included on the list. Police are investigating why a gunman killed 10 people in a series of shootings in the southern US state of Alabama before killing himself. The gunman burned down his own house, before firing on homes, shops and vehicles in the towns of Samson and Geneva near the Florida border. Several of the victims are believed to have been members of the gunman's extended family. The wife and daughter of a local police officer were also killed. The gunman was named by local officials as Michael McLendon, 28, who had recently left his job at a local sausage factory. The bloodshed began when McLendon shot his mother in the house where the two of them lived in Kinston, near Samson. He then placed his mother on a couch and set the house on fire McLendon also shot four dogs at the house, officials said. Shock The suspect then headed to a house in Samson where he shot and killed three relatives as well as the wife and daughter of Josh Myers, a local sheriff's deputy. Deputy Myers's other daughter was injured in the incident and was set to undergo treatment in a local hospital for a wound to the leg caused by a bullet or shrapnel. "I cried so much yesterday, I don't have a tear left in me," Mr Myers said. "I feel like I should be able to walk in the house and my wife would be there, my baby girl climbing on me." After leaving his relatives' home, the gunman moved to a neighbouring home, where he shot dead a 74-year-old woman - also a relative, according to officials. "He cleaned his family out," said Coffee County Coroner Robert Preachers. Police are being assisted in their investigation by the FBI The gunman then drove around Samson, killing two people at a Samson convenience store, and another man driving a pick-up truck. "He just cruised his automobile through Samson and was spraying the people with semi-automatic weapons [fire] at random," Reverend Mike Shirah, of Geneva's Maple Baptist Church, told the BBC. Samson Mayor Clay King said the town had opened a crisis centre at a local church. "I've lived here 44 years and never, never dreamed of this happening," Mr King told AP. From Samson, the gunman drove 19km (12 miles) east to Geneva. At one point, officers rammed his car and gunfire was exchanged. Geneva police chief Frankie Lindsay says he was saved by his bullet-proof vest when the man shot at his patrol with an automatic weapon. "About 11 rounds hit my vehicle," he told the BBC. "Some of the shrapnel from the bullets did enter my shoulder." The suspect fired a total of 30 rounds during the exchange with police, officials say. One of the officers involved in the shootout was Deputy Myers, who at the time was unaware that his wife and daughter had already been killed by the gunman. The gunman then went inside a metal products plant where he is believed to have once worked, and shot himself. There is no indication yet of a motive for the killings. Fifteen people have been killed by a teenage gunman who went on a rampage in south-west Germany, officials say. Among the dead were nine pupils, eight of them girls, and three teachers at the Albertville secondary school in the town of Winnenden, north of Stuttgart. The gunman, a 17-year-old former pupil, entered the school at about 0930 (0830 GMT) dressed in black combat gear and began shooting - aiming head-high. He fled in a stolen car, but killed himself after being cornered by police. German Chancellor Angela Merkel described the shootings as "incomprehensible". "It is unimaginable that in just seconds, pupils and teachers were killed - it is an appalling crime," she told reporters. "This is a day of mourning for for the whole of Germany." Officials earlier said a 10th pupil had died raising the death toll to 16, but this was later revised down to nine pupils. Baden-Wuerttemberg Interior Minister Heribert Rech said eight of the nine pupils who were killed were girls but he refused to speculate as to whether females in particular were targeted. Three teachers and three passers-by were the others who died. Police said the suspect - named locally as Tim Kretschmer - was killed during a shoot-out with officers in the town of Wendlingen, about 40km (25 miles) away from the school. He had fled there in a car he had hijacked after the school shooting - killing a passer-by as he made his escape, police said. Spokeswoman Inka Buckmiller said the shoot-out took place at a car showroom, where two bystanders were killed and two police officers were injured. "The suspect also died as a result of this shooting," she said. Baden-Wuerttemburg state governor Guenther Oettinger said police killed the suspect, but officers later said he had killed himself. One woman said her daughter had been in the school at the time of the shooting, and she was now at home "trembling and crying". "She and her friend jumped out of the window. Her friend is now in hospital... We hope that she's all right," the woman said. "What can I say? I don't understand the world any more." 'Heart-breaking' Regional police chief Erwin Hetger said the teenager "went into the school with a weapon and carried out a bloodbath", according to the Associated Press. "I've never seen anything like this in my life," he said. Mr Hetger said informing the families of what had happened was a heart-breaking job. "Our thoughts are concentrated on the parents.
