19-Sep-2009: Wembley Stadium, London - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
seetickets & ticketmaster sell you the ticket direct. looking at theonlineticketshop, is a forum enabling anyone who has a ticket to sell it via them. as far as i understand the standing tickets are all listed as ga standing & level 1 unreserved. it gives you the choice when you get there of pitch standing or level 1 seating. I was fairly certain that standing for the 19th is sold out, but ticketmaster just had a ticket available

4-Mar-2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia - Tickets, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
wasn’t going to the second Melbourne Coldplay concert expecting to worship at the altar. In fact it’s probably fair to say that at best I was hoping to get through the experience without getting too bored and restless and dampening the enthusiasm of my lovely companion. I can be noble like that. See, I have a confession to make – I don’t own a Coldplay album. Obviously I’ve heard their big songs on the radio and I’ve liked them enough not to change the station. But for some reason my feelings have never gone beyond ‘respectful’ and ‘mildly entertained’. It’s like I knew I ‘should’ like them more but something was getting in the way. It was probably the fact that most of their albums came out in the last decade when I struggled to like any new music. I say this, not because you should care less (both of you reading this) but in order to provide some context for the next statement. What a bloody great concert! Coldplay have pretty much mastered the arena show. They provide a visual feast that allows them to far exceed the inherent performance qualities of the songs. The attention to detail is astounding. They come on stage in costumes that look like Ragamuffin Pirates blended with Sgt Peppers, blended with Revolutionary Civil War Soldiers. The overall effect is like Dexys Midnight Runner’s at a formal dinner. And it works – we feel like there is a show being presented. Their instruments, from Will Champions drums to Johnny Buckland’s guitars to Chris Martin’s keyboards and even microphone are all customised with slashes of colour. It’s a small thing but it makes a big statement about their intentions. Their use of the big screens is the best I’ve seen – the higher resolution picture quality available these days is used to full effect so that the screens become a device of intimacy and not apology. Then there’s the props – huge yellow balls bounce around the arena for Yellow, autumn leaves/butterfly shaped confetti drops en masse later in the show and they make use of two runways and three stages – one being located in the heart of the audience (about 5 metres from our seats as luck would have it – see Amy’s photo for proof!) Give the Production Designer a good seat on the tour bus! For a more casual acquaintance of their music like me the show started off with a run of hits that left me wondering what I would do with myself for the next hour. Clocks, In My Place and Yellow all featured in the first few songs. The latter found Chris Martin asking the audience to sing along in the (tongue in cheek) hope that they would release the version as a single and be “bigger than U2”. This reference to the recent war of words in the British press with Bono was genuinely funny and delivered with a big smile. Martin asked the journalists in the audience not to report that comment but fortunately I’m no longer a journalist, just another wanker with a website! The audiences finest moment vocally though was in Fix You when their massed vocal sounded great – again proving the theory that audience sing-a-longs sound much better when there is a majority of female voices in the audience. Chris Martin isn’t the greatest singer in rock music, but he works with what he’s got cleverly. He actually has some jazz stylings in his vocals that work really well, although one doubts he would have married a film star had he been a jazz singer. That’s a cross he seems able to bear. He is a great performer though – he’s a frontman for a band, but he’s still very much a band member and team player. When the band adjourned to the “audience stage” for an acoustic set including Speed Of Sound and Green Eyes as well as Death Will Never Conquer sung by Will) they looks like they are playing on a tiny corner stage at a little London pub. Somehow 16000 Aussies managed to get in. And he’s not afraid to have a laugh at his own expense which surely endears him to Australian audiences. Other highlights of the set included the title track of Viva La Vida and the encore song The Scientist which even I have to admit is a superbly crafted combination of words and music. Coldplay’s performance certainly won me over in a big way. I still wont be playing their albums as frequently as I play my old World Party records (while wistfully wondering how big they would have been if Karl Wallinger had been handed the performance charisma bestowed on Chris Martin), but Coldplay have certainly leapt up my personal rankings many places. They hardly need another fan but, like it or not, they have one! http://www.heyheymymy.com.au/2009/03/05/coldplay-concert-review/

I went and saw Coldplay tonight. I wasn't expecting much, mainly because I only like their latest album. They were really, really, stress-on-the-really brilliant. Chris played a bit of Satie's "Gnossienne No. 1", which was definitely my highlight (mainly cuz I'm STILL obsessed with that song...). There were glow in the dark streamers, yellow balls filled with confetti, lasers and four really good performers. So damn brilliant. http://savagesparrow.blogspot.com/2009/03/coldplay-and-collages.html

Happy Birthday Chris!
Martin Senior rocks on for sober junior COLDPLAY lead singer Chris Martin celebrated his 32nd birthday at inner-city hot spots on Monday night. But so much for the hard-living rock'n'roll lifestyle. The British rock star reportedly left nightclub The Gin Palace before midnight "sober, on foot and heading back to his hotel". It was Martin's father who was was the last man standing, having stayed on at the upmarket bar after his famous son left. "My dad is more of a rock star than me," Martin said yesterday. "He embraces the lifestyle." The low-key celebrations started at top tapas CBD restaurant MoVida, where Martin booked a table for four. The Coldplay crooner was accompanied by his manager, father and one other guest, and arrived around 7pm. But it wasn't the champagne-soaked dinner one might expect from your average rock god. Instead, Martin was seen sinking a couple of quiet beers with his dad and talking with guests in the restaurant. "He was a lovely bloke, he had time for everyone," a MoVida patron said. "He said he was loving the restaurant, having a good time in Melbourne and that he was celebrating his birthday." The small entourage later moved to The Gin Palace, where they had "a quiet sitdown" over cocktails. The father of two did nothing to dispel his reportedly quiet lifestyle with actor wife Gwyneth Paltrow when he left the party early, while his dad stayed out until 2am. "They were having a little party all night and sitting around having a few drinks," a manager at the bar said. Coldplay performed the first of three shows at Rod Laver Arena last night. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25135255-5012974,00.html

Seatwave continues to see growth in all sectors - Viva la Vida ranking as the highest grossing tour
SEATWAVE SECONDARY TICKETING MARKET UPDATE FOR Q4 2008" LONDON, ENG (Seatwave) 03 March 2009 - Seatwave, Europe’s leading independent ticketing website according to Comscore market share data, today confirms that it saw decisive growth across all sectors including music, sport and theatre in Q4 of 2008. This comes as many other industries are feeling the effect of the economic downturn. Seatwave experienced a 66% increase in overall transactions since Q3 of 2008 and a massive 232% rise on the same quarter last year. The most significant growth was seen in theatre transactions, which witnessed a 217% increase in sales on 2007, followed by sports events, which saw an increase of 167%, and concert transactions, which saw a 154% rise. This increase in sales has led to a marked reduction in ticket prices on Seatwave, allowing fans to benefit from decreasing ticket prices for major events. This is to be expected as Seatwave is based on a transparent marketplace model, encouraging more competitive prices as supply increases. Sporting fans in particular are benefiting, with the average ticket price having decreased by 42% since Q3 and by 78% since the previous year. UK fans are increasingly choosing to go abroad for a range of events and are becoming more adventurous in their destinations. European festivals such as Benicassim and Rock am Ring have proved especially popular as fans opt for sunnier climates. In Q4 of 2008, UK buyers bought tickets to events in no fewer than 21 different countries, up from eight in the final quarter of 2007. Coldplay have shown their enduring appeal, with Viva la Vida ranking as the highest grossing tour on Seatwave in Q4. Barry Manilow, meanwhile, made a surprise appearance in the top ten, slipping in at tenth place. Eddie Izzard’s tour came in at number six, evidence of comedy’s growing appeal as a night out during this somewhat gloomy time. Commenting on the figures, Joe Cohen, Founder and CEO of Seatwave, said: “These figures clearly demonstrate that Seatwave is the undisputed market leader in Europe and has opened up a wide margin on the field. The huge rise in transactions is evidence that the secondary market is filling a genuine customer need. Our open marketplace is lowering prices, increasing transparency and providing greater choice and opportunity, allowing real fans the chance to attend the events that matter to them.” For more information please contact: Claire Thom / Louise Rutter Portland PR http://www.ticketnews.com/node/5243

Gwyneth...
Gwyneth Paltrow Is Stressed Out Gwyneth Paltrow admits that she lives a “really blessed, weird, interesting life,” but says that even she gets stressed out sometimes. Gwyneth, who has kids Apple, 5, and Moses, 2, with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, recently talked to New York magazine about what gets her down. “I think what stresses me out the most is trying to do so many things at once all the time, trying to be a good, present mother, trying to act, to cook. I do a lot at once, and I think that sometimes the idea of trying to do all of that stresses me out a lot,” the Proof star says. She adds one more: “Traffic really f—ing stresses me out.” To unwind the health-conscious mom turns not to a comfort like chocolate or a massage, but to yoga, which she says has changed her life. What do you do to de-stress? http://www.theinsider.com/news/1774919_Gwyneth_Paltrow_Is_Stressed_Out
