  1. ooh... the boss is going all prisoner-ish on us. Now I'm really curious.
  2. Afternoon.
  3. Sloan! :nice: Don't care for their recorded stuff much, by my word they know how to put on a great live show. One of the most fun ones I've ever been to. And thanks, I hope so too... but it doesn't look good- I'm afraid it's pneumonia. eep. :uhoh:
  4. ^ Why am I not surprised :dozey::laugh3: Read the icons. I'm a girl! :P
  5. It's up now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_puCZQ6Z3xs Brit awards are on CBC tonight (probably so they can edit them down first, but at least it's something) Can't wait. :nice:
  6. It's funny reading this thread and the atease equivalent, just how much of a difference there are between the two boards. We're kind of silly and they kind of like... 14-year-old boys in the worst way possible. (Seriously, are they capable of any sort of creativity that doesn't involve their nether regions...) You're in for an interesting evening. :laugh3: I have to bow out... you know your sick when you start coughing the power cord right out of the laptop (with a dead battery :bomb:) Have fun. Be nice to the poor locals. Not that it will take long to get yourselves all banned by the looks of things. :dozey:
  7. I've gone ahead and set up a neutral board whether it gets used in the end or not. Will post a link closer to showdown time.
  8. I really liked that remix- one of the rare ones that can live up to the original. Don't think I've ever heard it before. He didn't really say it did better, he said it climbed up rather than crashed into top place.
  9. ^Yeah, welcome to the wonderful world of looking after toddlers. My niece and nephew stay in the church nursery ONCE, catch all the other kids' colds, and give them to me. And then it happens again. Sorry you're feeling under the weather yourself. Nothing like a bit of midterm stress to make everything worse.
  10. ^A lot of interviews where Thom is asked about them and rolls his eyes or sort of verbally shrugs. The way a person dodges a question when they don't want to say anything bad in public, but don't have anything good to say. I especially got a chuckle out of an amnesiac-era interview where Thom triumphantly said something to the effect of I'd like to see them try to copy us this time.
  11. ^ I know... finally a really good day, and I was too sick to appreciate it in the slightest. Go figure.
  12. I don't think it's that he hates him, I think it's more that he's annoyed by him.
  13. You haven't heard of Adele because she's brand new. She's only 19, her album just came out, she's riding the whole Amy Winehouse retro soul wave, and she has her record company pulling overtime promoting her. I even saw her video on Muchmoremusic the other day- now that is record company muscle. That said, she has an amazing voice, and though I personally don't care for her original songs, I really don't mind them- she sounds THAT good. She's actually worth checking out: http://www.myspace.com/adelelondon As for how the cover version is going to sound, apparently GPASUYF is one of the covers that Mark Ronson has been doing for a while. It sounds too happy for the song, but otherwise it's quite good. Here's a live version I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLp3wbla8pI ooh...just found a really interesting Coldplay/Mark Ronson mashup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IqNzs7zQxg

I never use anything. Have really bad chemical sensitivities, so I can't be around anyone who wears perfume, and I have to try to stick to unscented products. Probably the strongest thing I use is a fruity bodywash. But it doesn't have much smell to it.
  15. ^...came out of the water... and you're feeling so bad cause you know... that the spies hide out in every corner...and you can't touch them no, cause they're all spies... :P I like the make your own forum idea- don't have anything against the leafs and everywhere else is too complicated. Don't mind setting it up if no one else wants to.
  16. Goodness I was in a bad mood when I wrote this. :stunned: Note to self- if you inexplicably feel this bad, there's probably a reason for it. My cold relapsed, and I woke up with bronchitis the next morning. :sick2: And no, I didn't go out in the rain. I think it was my body's way of telling me something was very wrong. Really sorry for snapping at you, Mimi :embarassed:
  17. That's awesome. :laugh3: :nice: It works so well. Yeah, there's a lot of Radiohead fans who hang around here because they can't handle the negativity on at ease. I still lurk there all the time (name's Zarblatz if you're wondering) but I'm kind of too shy to post anything constructive. But yeah, what Eglantine said- you surprise me in a good way. Nice to meet you. :D
  18. Boo. You and Whose Army was my favorite :( Of those three I'd really like Pyramid Song and Glass House move on. Knives Out never really did much for me. What happens if it ends as a 3-way tie?
  19. They're just really different, that's all. They deal with different parts of life. (leaving out x&y- nothing like domestic stability for losing your edge) Coldplay's lyrics are about being the class nerd, being ignored, about insecurities, and mostly about getting your heart broken and knowing it was your fault. (Basically all of arobtth) Radiohead and Thom deal with a whole different range of things. Things like serious depression (htdc) and (imo) being alone in a crowd- the worst kind of loneliness of all (iluvya). There's a lot of anger at the world at large, lots about the bigger picture. Lots of frustration. Really, the extremely personal stuff ended for the most part after the bends. After that when he does turn inwards, it's usually done very criptically. I guess the way I've always thought about it is that Coldplay are all about the light at the end of the tunnel, and Radiohead are all about jumping up and down yelling "A train! A train is coming!" I like having both around. And I think that in spite of some musical similarities, because they've chosen different directions, it's all apples and oranges.
  20. My birthday is the end of April. I think it will actually come out in June (but hope I'm wrong and it's sooner)
  21. Looks like the Keane fans get the award for best poll crashing. Man, sometimes I wish there were enough people around here to do that. I miss the old LotR poll crashing days...
  22. How can There There be better than There There?:laugh3: I would really like to hear it some time.... Though I finally figured out why it weirded me out so much... I'm so used to seeing you with that Hurley avatar that I think I ended up associating you with him somehow...:lol:
  23. June 16th Though April 21st would be great- I could get it for my birthday. :nice:
  24. Don't worry, I can tell his mom on him if he gets carried away. :P (And vice versa :worried:)
