Albums of the Year: 2007 - The Countdown
Well after being so rudely interrupted by Christmas weekend :santa: I'm back to compiling now and hope to be done with it tonight. Though it might kill me  (how the hooey does Nik do it so fast anyway. *sings* Oh if I only had an attention span... [to the tune of 'If I Only Had A Brain]) Anyway start it tomorrow night, finish Friday afternoon at the latest. Or would Sunday be better? Unfortunately, I had been planning on Saturday, but I won't be here then. :smartass:

What Stereo System do you have to listen to sweet music?
Yeah, the wooden casing amplifies the sound waves, giving a much richer deeper sound than metal or plastic can. Which is why I'm never switching, if I can help it.

so.. 2007 is almost over
Yeah it's pretty normal for writers. Though one could argue that being a writer isn't a normal state to begin with... Though I do have to say, workshopping and feedback is really important because other people can point out massive blind spots you never would have looked for otherwise. Some really great books have been written that way- like the Inklings' works (Lord of the Rings, Narnia), Frankenstein, and even Fight Club. Short stories are great practice too, even if they are annoyingly hard, because they teach you how to avoid the dreaded info dump- killer of many a good story. Anyway, nice to meet another writer. Good luck with your work. ;) Thanks :nice: that really does help.

Amazing, yes, but also freaking hard. I still don't play anything well, and I can't sing, so I don't know why I keep trying- I just have to for some reason. It's like I have all these tiny puzzle pieces and I know some of them fit together, but I don't know how and there are 5 different puzzles mixed together. Stories are much the same, except at least I know what I'm working on- I can sit back and watch it in my head like a movie when I hit a rough spot. I'd never let anyone read my old stuff. As most successful writers I've come across have said, you have to get a lot of crap out of your system before you can write something good. And I write very big long stories that never get finished. Short stories are actually harder because all the elements that go into a big story have to be squashed into a couple of pages. But if I manage to finish one of the short stories I'm working on soon, I might post it on here. I'll see. Sorry to hear you had a bad year, Tracie. Here's to the next one. ;)

so.. 2007 is almost over
Lets see... looking back... hmm. I broke up with my boyfriend new years day (he moved) had to drop one class and flunked another because of writer's block, lost touch with a bunch of friends when they graduated and moved away, took the summer off due to mental exhaustion, and have had a miserable time trying to find a job ever since. It should have been a really miserable year. But it wasn't. I've been really happy this year, and I'm not sure why. Is that weird? I guess I'm just learning to live with myself much better. I've been writing again (scifi stories- it's why I went to college in the first place) it's been a long time since I've been able to do that because of the writer's block. I'm certainly taking better care of myself now than when I was all stressed out. I really learned how to play guitar and write songs this year, so it's great to have a new creative outlet. It seems like it's been a really good year. But definite highlight? White Stripes coming to Halifax. That was awesome and so unexpected.

Lily Allen is pregnant
Not even women... The first time I heard Richard Ashcroft sing I couldn't figure out why his voice sounded so familiar... took me over a year of confused wondering to realise he had done that Chemical Brothers song my brother was always playing.

The Hobbit Is Happening!!! With Peter Jackson! WOOHOO!!
No directors have been decided. It's being split into two movies (not sure how that's going to work) and PJ doesn't have time to direct both of them himself, but there's speculation that he may direct the second if it works into his schedule (he's got a couple of other big projects on the go too.) Sam Raimi's name also comes up a lot. What it does mean for sure is that PJ and his wife Fran Walsh will write the screenplay again, and that all the same people will be working on it in New Zealand, so it should have the same look and feel. www.theonering.net is traditionally the best place to get all the little details as they come in.

Why is it that whenever my perceptions of various British musicians get all messed up, one of the Chemical Brothers is always involved?...

Wow... Radiohead's studio/office/whatever it is looks (and sounds) so cosy and full of light. Seems like it would be a nice place to be. Never seen a picture of it like that before.
